Dane Forrest or Nick Forrest, so which is it?[edit]

Article as it currently stands shows "Dane Forrest on keyboards." in the Lead but Nick Forrest in the infobox and Band members section. So which is it?—Iknow23 (talk) 22:54, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sophomore or Sophmore? (Under the Sub-heading: Future projects)[edit]

I am aware that Sophmore (as in highschool sophmore) is spelled S.O.P.H.M.O.R.E. However, in the MTV article used as a reference, the word was spelled S.O.P.O.M.O.R.E. So, which is it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Selenaismylife555 (talkcontribs) 04:56, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is always spelt sophomore. –Turian (talk) 04:57, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Kww got me confused about it. I had initially spelled it "sophomore", but he changed it to "sophmore". I think his words were: "If you're going to use silly words, at least spell them correctly." Thanks again for clearing up the confusion.Selenaismylife555 (talk) 05:08, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have that precisely backwards: [1] shows me changing "sophmore" to "sophomore". Yes, I think it's a pretentious word to use to describe "second".—Kww(talk) 15:16, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Naturally"[edit]

The single "Naturally" is now an official Gold single. Selena Gomez announced this via her Twitter account. It has also been mentioned during several interviews. So, if someone could please find a reliable reference source to back this fact up, that would be extremely helpful. Thanks so much! Selenaismylife555 (talk) 05:11, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative Rock and Techno?[edit]

Okay, after a lot of edits, I removed the genres Alternative Rock and Techno, but now I see they are back. I think that the genres are not completely inappropriate. However, some people disagree. Should they stay or go? Thanks! Selenaismylife555 (talk) 05:18, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I keep removing them myself, I feel they too entirely based on one person's opinion. There are also too many unsourced genres being added, having too much genres makes the music artist's info box too crowded or in some cases long. They don't need that many genres to define them.--Babyjazspanail (talk) 07:56, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I simplified the infobox to what I feel is the correct level: she plays pop music, and there's no need to list myriad sub-genres.—Kww(talk) 15:13, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to add a few sub-genres back that are sourced. I'm sorry if you disagree, but I think that her music is NOT defined by Pop alone. Selenaismylife555 (talk) 17:54, 5 March 2010 (UTC) I've added back Pop rock, Synthpop, Electropop, and Dance-pop. I don't think that this is a problem. Most bands have three or four genres that they fall under. It may be confusing to you, but it is accurate. Selenaismylife555 (talk) 18:12, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's not confusing, it's just unnecessary. If you can find sources that actually meet WP:RS, feel free to add them back. The sources you added don't meet it. Several editors have recommended that you read WP:RS, and I will recommend that again: read it, take it to heart, and stop adding material based on fansites, blogs, and wikis.—Kww(talk) 18:16, 5

March 2010 (UTC) I added Electropop to the genre list based on an album review by Tim Sendra. He used the word "techno-ish" but Selena's music isn't quite Techno. Selenaismylife555 (talk) 18:39, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IMPORTANT: the Selena Gomez & the Scene album Kiss & Tell has officially gone GOLD!!!![edit]

Selena Gomez announced on her facebook that Kiss and tell has been certified as a Gold album. Selenaismylife555 (talk) 19:14, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Officially gone gold" happens when the RIAA confirms it. Can you show any link to an official certification by the RIAA?—Kww(talk) 19:46, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not yet, and I have searched the RIAA database. I guess we'll have to wait untill it shows up. I DO know for a fact that Selena said on her official facebook page that it was certified Gold, but she (as the artist) probably was the first to recieve the information. Maybe even before the RIAA had put it up on their site. Selenaismylife555 (talk) 20:06, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Or she could be exaggerating, wrong, lying, or talking about a different country. There's a lot of reasons that we don't use Facebook as a source for certifications.—Kww(talk) 20:11, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In the case that she is talking about a different country, is there somewhere I could go to check all of the countries? It will be to time consuming to search through each country's database.Selenaismylife555 (talk) 23:49, 6 March 2010 (UTC) I have checked a few of the recording industry associations' databases, and ones such as Canada do not have any information past January 2010 available. Selenaismylife555 (talk) 00:42, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There isn't a centralized certification database, unfortunately. From experience, my bet is that the announcement was premature. A lot of artists claim "gold" status when they cross a million sales on the record company's books, but before those shipments are certified by the RIAA.—Kww(talk) 16:51, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that makes sense. I guess we'll just have to wait and see... Selenaismylife555 (talk) 22:44, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's been certified now. GalaxyTurboTwister

Wow Kww i bet you feel embarresed now that you ccalled Selena Gomez a liar —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.16.197.6 (talk) 04:40, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Naturally-The Remixes"[edit]

In 2010, The Scene provided a promo CD maxi containing remixes of their highest charting single "Naturally".[1] It features remixes by Dave Aude, Ralphi Rosario, Disco Fries, Trance and DJ Waybig (Trance remix and Dj Waybig on YouTube) as well as the original track.[1] The Disco Fries remix was released as a single.[2]

Upcoming tour dates?[edit]

The upcoming tour dates section seems pretty inappropriate to me. Wikipedia shouldn't be used as a promotional tool. At the very least they are unfair as they are not on any other band's pages. 149.157.1.154 (talk) 20:55, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Selena Gomez ♥ the Scene ?[edit]

I haven't really seen 'Selena Gomez & the Scene' stylized as 'Selena Gomez ♥ the Scene' on any of their official merchandise. The '&' looks sort of like a heart on their album cover, but that's just as close as it gets. Should it be removed from the article? Louisalena (talk) 18:22, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They use that when writing about them in magazines here in the UK. Just thought I'd mention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.9.26.215 (talk) 21:21, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from 173.66.135.234, 29 May 2010[edit]

{{editsemiprotected}} At the part where it says that the single "Round and Round" is coming out on June 20th, and it cites a website, you need to be more specific. The website itself says that Radio Disney will premiere the song on June 18th, the Disney Channel will premiere the music video on June 20th, and the song will be available on iTunes on June 22nd

Article Request: "Round and Round" NEEDS ITS OWN PAGE![edit]

The single has already been released onto radio and the music has been released as well. It needs its own article. 98.232.58.47 (talk) 18:28, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've done it, but not sure it's good though. You can always improve it. OAVJunior (talk) 17:07, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've undone it. Please take the time to read WP:NSONGS, the guideline for articles about songs. A song needs to have charted (not on iTunes or Radio Disney, see WP:BADCHARTS), won an award, or been performed by multiple artists. This has done none of those. Wikipedia will still be here in a week, and the song will probably qualify for an article then. Not before.—Kww(talk) 19:25, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I wish it would hurry up and chart so that you guys can give it its own independent article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.255.38.33 (talk) 14:48, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure it will chart soon Hman497 (talk) 20:33, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article Needs Protection![edit]

This article need protection again! I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that someone had reverted the article back to a version that is months and month old! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Selenaismylife555 (talkcontribs) 01:15, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A Year Without Rain[edit]

Uhm, are we absolutely positive that the track listing we got from Walmart is official? This thing’s 1 month+ away. I think It should be removed until someplace like Amazon or Selena’s website shows the official track listing. And Selena said that LLTNT [Live Like There’s No Tomorrow] wouldn’t be on A Year Without Rain. So, yes I am a bit confused. And I believe that it should be taken off until further notice. Grace Ann (talk) 16:04, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

She actually did not say "LLTNT" wouldn't be on AYWR. She said she had wanted it to be on the album, and they put it on the R&B soundtrack. She never said it wouldn't be on the album, too. Also, Walmart is just as official as Amazon. Roselily6 (talk) 03:50, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, okay, but I still say wait until SG’s official website, [www.selenagomez.com] announces the tracks.. which will be soon because before you “enter” the site it shows the album cover and a countdown until you can pre order exclusive album fan pakcages. But either way I’m excited! :D Grace Ann (talk) 20:01, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OKAY! IT'S OFFICAL! [I'm excited] SG's website has said it! http://selenagomez.com/news/year-without-rain-tracklisting :D I can't wait! Grace Ann (talk) 02:12, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Me again. And this time for two reasons. One, why does the “A Year Without Rain” page keep getting deleted?!? I saw nothing wrong, it looked fine. Second, I’ve heard a coupled rumor AND saw it confirmed that “Intuition” is a duet. [:D] But the person she’s doing the duet with is unknown. [:( ] Though it's NOT a Disney star. Grace Ann (talk) 20:17, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What are you talking about? A Year Without Rain seems quite intact.—Kww(talk) 20:38, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This morning when I typed it in the search box, it showed this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selena_Gomez_%26_the_Scene#2010-present:_A_Year_Without_Rain_and_other_projects instead of this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Year_Without_Rain And what do you think about Intuition? Grace Ann (talk) 23:41, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A Year Without Rain Tour?[edit]

Why does it say this? Aren't those upcoming tour dated part of the fairs and festivals tour? Has there been a tour under this name announced or any dates? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.216.110.159 (talk) 23:18, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the official A Year Without Rain Tour will take place next summer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Selenaismylife555 (talkcontribs) 02:58, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Spanish Album[edit]

I was at the Selena gomez/the scene Puerto Rico concert and selena announced that theyre in the middle of recording a full length spanish album! :O not kiddin, and she confirmed that a spanish version of tell me something i dont know will be in it :O, i heard it with my own ears, and it was on the news paper the day after the concert, so if someone could just add it on the A Year Without Rain -Present section 24.139.117.90 (talk) 22:32, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The page has been recreated and cleared. When the song charts you can just revert the edits. A skeleton of the page was made. --DisneyFriends (talk) 01:13, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fourth Studio Album[edit]

Deleted the information about their fourth album because it didn't cite any references. 11coolguy12 (talk) 09:29, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish Album[edit]

I have removed information about the upcoming Spanish Album in the discography section as the album has not yet been released or officially confirmed by the label or the band. Just because Selena said they're making one doesn't mean that it will be released. Also, it is unknown when the album will be released and most people just assume it will be released next year, but it hasn't been announced and there are no valid references about the album. Awards and nominations[edit]

This may just be my opinion, but many of the awards and nominations are for Selena's solo work as a TV Actress, and thus have nothing to do with the either her music or band. Should they be removed from this article? --PenaltyKillahJw21 15:45, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I know right? im try and remove it because it has nothing to do with the band 24.139.117.90 (talk) 16:06, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Move page to Selena Gomez & The Scene[edit]

The band is officially known as Selena Gomez & The Scene, not Selena Gomez & the Scene - at least that's how the band promotes itself. This is evident from the cover of the latest album, and from Gomez's official YouTube channel. In any case, Gomez's official fanclub is known as "The Scene", which is clearly what the band's name refers to. Wikipedia seems to have followed the lead of iTunes, which incorrectly lists the band's name. --50.46.248.86 (talk) 23:51, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In a few days I will move the page if there are no objections. --Life is like a box of chocolates (talk) 22:54, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like iTunes has finally fixed the band's name. --50.46.252.252 (talk) 02:17, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Musical style[edit]

Why the article does not have a musical style section?. Must be there, can translate it of wiki es. --AleeDear (talk) 20:41, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistancy with article title and bold bit in intro[edit]

I have noticed that the article is titled "Selena Gomez & the Scene", but the bold section beneath says "Selena Gomez & The Scene". Should this be changed, or is it intentional? GyaroMaguus 23:28, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Roses[edit]

Can anyone find any kind of source for this "Roses" thing people keep adding? I'm trying to figure out if I'm dealing with vandalism or with editors that just don't know how to provide a source. I can't find a trade of it.—Kww(talk) 16:59, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nielsen SoundScan artist sales[edit]

The article currently reads: "According to Nielsen SoundScan, by December 2012, the band has sold over 125 million digital copies of their discographic material just in the US, and over 80.5 million records worldwide." This data has been recently changed by an IP (the numbers were much lower before) and I can't find any data online that would back up these claims. Nielsen SoundScan is a subscription-based service and I do not have access to it: can anyone confirm these numbers or find an alternate source? Otherwise, these claims are completely baseless and should be removed. —Mono·nomic 04:26, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
