Old talk

I think the most interesting thing about this case is who, in the top levels of the Kremlin administration, is involved in this massive tax scam? I don't think it could have been carried out without the support of senior tax officials, police officers, judges and politicians so - if any can shed any light on who these people are - then please update the article I have written. Censorship

Really ? Copyright infringement in Wikipedia ? I've been a user of Wikipedia for many years and that's the first time I've ever seen this tag. Are you sure this isn't censorship ? I don't want to believe there is political censorship in Wikipedia.--187.22.80.204 (talk) 22:15, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Really. Copyright infringement. Next time you edit, view the content below the edit window that begins with the words "Content that violates any copyrights will be deleted." You're welcome to help address these concerns by rewriting this article in the provided temporary space. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:18, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Bad grammar

The grammar has broken down in "The official seal...".

Copyright problems

This article has been tagged for copyright review for its resemblance to [1]; notwithstanding that resemblance, it was at its inception an unusably close paraphrase at least of [2]. Compare the article's:

In the last court appearance before his death, the prosecution served late new evidence to the judge as it sought to extend his detention and the judge accepted it, refusing to give Magnitsky's legal team time to study the material. Mr Magnitsky accused the authorities of turning his trial into a sham, complaining he was denied his most basic human rights.

with that source's

...the prosecution served late new evidence to the judge as it sought again to extend his detention. The judge accepted it, refusing to give Mr Magnitsky's legal team time to study the material.

and

In an emotional outpouring at his final public appearance before his death, Mr Magnitsky accused the authorities of turning his trial into a sham, complaining he was denied his most basic human rights.

BLP1E

Per WP:BLP1E, this article should be about the event (death of Magnitsky) not the person. Hence, it should be moved to Death of Sergei Magnitsky. Rd232 talk 20:48, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Considering the (largely lack of) response that the copyright problem received, I doubt you'll meet much opposition...or communication. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:36, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps someone should just boldly move it then. Rd232 talk 16:42, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Go for it, if you like. I don't have strong feelings about it either way. I recognize that it often is done that way, but the man's name is just as prominent in an article about the event (there not being any other appropriate name for it than Death of...), the redirect anyway is necessary as his name is a more likely search term, and WP:BLP is (tragically) no longer really an issue. Similarly, JonBenét Ramsey and Chandra Levy sit at their subject's names, but Murder of Andrew Kissel is located at a name describing the event. All I care about, really, is that the information is here and accessible. I don't have much time to rewrite copyright problem articles myself these days, but I could not delete this one. His story touched me, and the results of his death seem widespread in ramifications. Maybe not a Steve Biko, but a brave man who died horribly for standing by his conscience. :( --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:58, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
I would oppose renaming. He is not notable for his death, but as someone who reported wide-spread corruption in Russia, which resulted in the "list of Magnitsky" after his death. My very best wishes (talk) 14:12, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

New development

Vladimir Kara-Murza was fired from Russian TV Channel RTVi (alegedly on orders from Putin's Deputy Chief of Staff Alexey Gromov) for his participation in preparation of "Magnitsky list" [3]. My very best wishes (talk) 05:03, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
