Home and road series[edit]

If an MLB team plays an inter-league rival on four consecutive days during the regular season, two games in one team's ballpark followed by two games in the other ballpark, is that classed as one series or two? --Jameboy (talk) 22:16, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

According to MLB, if there are consecutive games between two teams, all of those games are considered to be part of the same series, regardless of venue. The obvious example is in the postseason, where the location is changed regularly but the games are still part of the same series. But since you asked about the regular season, an example is the series between the Minnesota Twins and the Seattle Mariners from July 10th, 1980, to July 14th, 1980. The first two games of the five game set were played in Seattle, and the later three were played in Minnesota. According to the MLB's record of these games, Minnesota won the series 4-1, implying that all five games were of the same series. Dopdahl16 (talk) 23:15, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
