Notes[edit]

  • 987E designation is state-maintained and begins at the Johnsontown north junction (not the south junction).
  • 981G runs from NY 17 to start of state-maintenance (987E) and is village-maintained. (Listed by NYSDOT as having a lenght of 0.36 mi).
  • South Entrance Road in Bear Mountain State Park is town-maintained

See Rockalnd Legislative District 1 map.

    • Distance from Johnsontown Road south junction to Orange-Rockland county line, 6.25 miles - checks with NYSDOT (6.22). By contrast, the north junction is 5.95 miles.
    • 0.36 miles from NY 17 places the end of 981G somewhere between Waldron Terrace and Washington Avenue, about midway between the two. This leaves a gap of about 200 yards between the east end of 981G and the west (south) end of 987E. The NYSDOT traffic counts mention "east end of 987E" at the eastern terminus of 981G...how is that possible, both in terms of distance and direction ("east end")?
    • Not sure what it all means... Maybe the gap is locally maintained? --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 03:19, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. The 987E mileage definitely corresponds to the south junction. It is possible that the Rockland county maintenance map is in error. The reference to "east end" is probably also an error. I'm sure they meant the west end. But that still doesn't explain the missing 0.12 miles. I'll try and dig up some more information. --Polaron | Talk 04:50, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
