Just a note to request a correction. In this article, Hugh M. Beckwith's death is incorrectly stated. He was killed by robbers during a robbery of his store. He was not killed while robbing a store.

Source material supporting: [1] and oral history from my grandmother, Jean (Dudley) Totten McKinney, his great-granddaughter.

Hugh was, by my grandmother's account, a rather nasty piece of work.

My line of descent: Hugh M. Beckwith married Refugia Rascon y Pino, produced Camelia Beckwith. Camelia Beckwith married William Johnson (Johnson was shot and killed by his father in law), and produced Jean Johnson. Jean Johnson married Gerald Totten, Produced Jean Dudley Totten. Jean Totten Married Harris Dunbar McKinney, produced Joan McKinney. Joan McKinney married Robert Detweiler and produced me.
