Revert of copy edit[edit]

@Itsallaboutthemusic: Hi! I noticed that you've reverted my copy edit and cleanup to the article, as well as some filmography additions by Mandharam. I see that your account is used almost exclusively for editing this article, and hope that you are open to discussing improvements to the article. I'll try to explain the reasons for the changes in my copy edit:

  • A lot of information was not cited in the article. This is very important because of Wikipedia's biographies of living persons (BLP) policy. I put little notes like[citation needed] in the article to help show what material needed to be cited to a reliable source. Wikipedia's verification policy requires that such material either be cited or removed; editors shouldn't simply remove the notes.
  • Inline lists should only capitalize the first letter, similarly with section headers MOS:SECTIONS
  • All subjects of Wikipedia biographies are notable persons and will have won some award. Starting the lead sentence by saying they're an award winner is not the best way to begin an article. WP:LEADSENTENCE
  • Her work as a music producer/arranger was not well represented in the body of the article, and so did not seem to be significant and notable enough for inclusion in the lead sentence.
  • I condensed a lot of information in the lead and arranged it topically, beginning with her broader accomplishments and then moving into specifics.
  • I used a more formal tone in the text (e.g.: Tirupati was born in Srinagar, India and split her time between Canada and India while growing up. → Tirupati was born in Srinagar, India, and was raised in Canada and India.) and made it a little more concise so it was easier to read.
  • There were a lot of examples of recordings in the text, which were redundant with the discography lists.
  • Commercial work (jingles and voice overs) is so minor that I didn't think it deserved mention. If it is important, the text should explain why.
  • Fixed italics for album titles MOS:MAJORWORK.
  • I grouped the Recognition and Awards and nominations sections together.

Did you have any reasons for reverting the copy edit. Let me know, thanks. – Reidgreg (talk) 19:13, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A reminder to reinstate the May 2019 c/e tag once this is resolved. Twofingered Typist (talk) 21:18, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
