Corrections to award tallies[edit]

This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered.

I work for Rubenstein and on behalf of Sheila Nevins, I'm proposing the following correction and clarification to the award tallies in both the lead paragraph as well as the info box. NinaSpezz (talk) 17:16, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The third sentence in the lead paragraph should say:

She has worked on productions that have been recognized with 35 News and Documentary Emmy Awards, 42 Peabody Awards, and 26 Academy Awards. Nevins has won 32 individual Primetime Emmy Awards, more than any other person.^[1]^[2]^[3]

The awards section of the infobox should list:

32 Primetime Emmy Awards

35 News and Documentary Emmy Awards

42 Peabody Awards

26 Academy Awards

Wait, if she has won 26 Academy Awards why is the awards not mentions in the "Accolades" section? Also, according to the List of Academy Award records page, the person who won the most Academy Award is Walt Disney with 22 awards and the woman who won the most awards is Edith Head with 8 awards. If she really won 26 awards then she has really broke these 2 records and the info in that page need to be edited. However, I suspect the error is in this page. Please check and rectify. Thank you.

I believe you have misread the page. Walt Disney won more Academy Awards than any other person; Sheila Nevins has won more Primetime Emmys than any other person. They are different awards. Best, Altamel (talk) 08:00, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No, I didn't misread anything. Walt Disney won the most Academy Awards and the number of his win as shown in the page I linked is 22 awards. But in this page you listed Sheila Nevins wins of Academy Awards as 26 awards. Unless the rule of math has changed when I am not aware, 26 is definitely higher than 22. So if this detail is correct the details in the Academy Awards page should be changed. If it is not correct, which seems likely since none of the supposed 26 wins is listed in the "Accolades" section, then the mention of her having won 26 Academy Awards should be removed.

Sorry – I misread your comment. The 26 Academy Awards were won by productions Nevins worked on, but that doesn't mean that Nevins was cited in each of those 26 awards. The page states, "[Nevins] has worked on productions that have been recognized with...26 Academy Awards." Nevins usually works as an executive producer, but executive producers are not credited by the Academy in their Best Documentary Feature awards. For example, CitizenFour lists Nevins as an executive producer [1] but the Oscar citation is only to Laura Poitras, Mathilde Bonnefoy, and Dirk Wilutzky. Though I see your point that this wording may be misleading. NinaSpezz, would you care to comment? Altamel (talk) 04:25, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Altamel - Thanks for looping me in. I am fine with your recent edit and I think the current wording in the lead clarifies Nevins' involvement ("She has worked on productions that have been recognized with..."). Perhaps it would make sense to add a "see below" link to the Accolades section in the info box, which is what the info box on James Cameron's does?
