Location not determined[edit]

I don't think the coordinates stated on there is necessary since it hasn't been resolved that it is to be at that location as opposed to the east end.--Hourick (talk) 22:35, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

has anyone taken pictures of this ground-breaking? I think a picture of the event would be good for documentation purposes. Lyncas (talk) 03:07, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've taken a couple of pictures, but nothing that can be really be used to show/verify location. As you can imagine, it's a bit difficult to get nearby.--Hourick (talk) 07:16, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion for time line[edit]

Since it looks like the stadium might get off the ground, I do believe we don't have to delete all the information that has been put on the article up to now. A reword/restructure of the events leading up to the construction up to this point would serve the history of the stadium well. --Hourick (talk) 05:55, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dynamo name[edit]

Now that construction is going to happen, I decided to create a page called, "Dynamo Stadium (Houston)" to redirect here. If there are no objections, I will move it over there in the next couple of days unless someone has an "in" on what the stadium will eventually be called. --Hourick (talk) 17:10, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Most cost effective"?[edit]

"The $95m stadium construction cost makes the BBVA Compass Stadium the most cost effective of modern Soccer Specific Stadia with recent stadia like the Red Bull Arena costing $200m [21], Rio Tinto Stadium costing $115 [22]and PPL Park costing $115m [23]"

"Cost effective" needs to be properly defined. If you're simply trying to say "cheapest", BMO Field was built for quite a bit less. phreakydancin (talk) 21:55, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Soccer Specific Stadium[edit]

BBVA is not a soccer-specific stadium. A SSS is decidedly devoted to soccer, with only occasional special events. Its more along the lines of the Home Depot Center as a multipurpose sports complex. AS noted in the article, Texas State uses it as its homefield (and it would have NEVER been constructed w/o it being a home field for Texas State) and it has hosted (and will continue to host) several High School games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.37.36.57 (talk) 09:47, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A soccer-specific stadium is determined by the dimensions of the pitch; not who it's used by. Treyvo (talk) 01:51, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
MLS refers to stadiums as "soccer-specific" when they are designed (either from initial construction or during major reconstruction) to cater primarily to soccer. This article uses that definition. Obviously, quite a few "soccer-specific" stadiums also host football teams - generally college football. For example, BBVA and Providence Park (formerly JELD-WEN Field in Portland, OR,) are both "soccer-specific stadiums," with MLS soccer teams as the primary tenant, that also host college football games. CenturyLink Field and BC Place, on the other hand, are not "soccer-specific stadiums," in spite of the fact that they were designed from the outset to be a soccer stadium in addition to a football stadium. 208.67.132.5 (talk) 21:11, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
