Ideas to improve the page[edit]

  • Add(lots of)citations -- we can probably use the sources section to find relevant texts
  • Need lead paragraph to give a better summary of what readers will find in rest of article
  • Expand biography (in a separate section underneath 'contents' box)
  • Fix external links to include title of link (right now there are only numbers)
  • Add and awards nominations section
  • Clarify 'sources' section -- is this further reading?
  • Expand critical multiculturalism to include Steinberg's contribution
  • Perhaps add an influences or criticism section
  • Under Kinderculture: remove book citation and add as reference citation, clarify '(11)' at end of section
  • Under References: add text to some of the links that only have numbers

Yes, I think these are all useful suggestions.

  • It's interesting to me that the leading paragraph never has a heading associated with it. I would have suggested one, but this just isn't a thing on wikipedia.
  • In the quickfacts sidebar, we might consider revising or adding one or two main points, perhaps a picture.
  • Current sections could use more context and it may be more appropriate to dissolve these sections into paragraphs within a single section about academics.--Ccooneycuny (talk) 00:44, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've been working on the first section of Shirley's page, cleaning up and adding to her bio. I've also tried to add citations for as many facts as I can find online. I keep finding a lot of the same stuff, over and over. I like your idea of dissolving the current sections into a single section about academics--makes a lot more sense than what is happening now on the page.Sooperwomyn818 (talk) 17:38, 25 March 2015 (UTC) Will work on that after I finish the bio stuff.[reply]

As far as the "works" section goes, my thoughts are to change the order from oldest to most recent...this looks to be a common convention on other wikipedia pages. I would also like to make the section a little more useful by first listed the date published for the works, and it also might be helpful to split them up between edited works versus authored. I'm noticing she has co-edited a number of volumes that seem pretty substantive.--Ccooneycuny (talk) 23:56, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Work plans[edit]

RB: work on bio components and professional contributions as well as kinderculture and urban youth SL: work on scholarship (arranged by chronological order): postformalism and critical multiculturalism CC: work on bio components and professional contributions, works cited, and media literacy --146.96.130.201 (talk) 22:21, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I ended up adding an awards and honors section b/c I found stuff about these. Have yet to find the Choice awards for 1995 and 1997 (I think these are the years). We can change the placement.Sooperwomyn818 (talk) 21:33, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to remove the nationality box as I have not found evidence that she is still a US citizen (and we don't know if she has naturalized as a Canadian citizen). Have either of you found anything that says that?Sooperwomyn818 (talk) 02:19, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Remove Reference Warning[edit]

The article now has ~20 sources. I think the warning can be removed. Does anyone disagree?--Theredproject (talk) 22:46, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
