History section

Lead section

Yes, I plan to work on it soonish. I have a rough idea of what to do, just done about all the writing I want to for today, and I want to make sure I haven't missed anything in the other major sources for expanding the article, since the lead is its summary. In SJ, when a series is finished its run in the magazine, on the last page of its last chapter, it will have a note at the bottom saying what series is replacing it in the next issue. For example, Gaba Kawa ended in the August 2008 issue. On the last page of its chapter, was a note that Honey Hunt would be the new series in next month's issue. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 05:05, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

It isn't something to mention in the article. Features section

What we really need is a Features section, I've made up a list:

  • Jump Shot
  • Nihongo lesson
  • Fan Art
  • Brain Benders
  • Monthly Manga News
  • Games We Love

Another question - is the list of currently running series correct? Viz's media kit says the magazine has six series running, but our chart shows seven? I've been going with no on those, as they are just one time things. Something to note in their articles, but for the magazine, its mostly trivial. Only ones that might be worth including are ones that may have jumped the sales (like that one pack in that caused sales to go insane) or were controversial or the like. I have made a list of previews before, AnmaFinotera erased it. Although, whenever you explain the reason why you erased it, I kinda get a clue. Yeah, usually previews like that are more of a boon for the series than the magazine (plus such a list would get really really really long after awhile. It needs to be copyedited to check prose issues and make sure the tone and grammar is up to Wikipedia standards. Then I think a peer review to get additional feedback before sending it for GA or FA. Since I mirrored Shojo Beat's layout here, I'll also bring back any feedback from that PR here to update. Special editions

We need to, in some way, note the special editions of SJ. Just to make a long story short:

  • Free Comic Book Day: Shonen Jump Special - released free on Free Comic Book Day, a distinguishing feature about it is that it is phamplet size, and has a "A" rating instead of a "T". I can find reliable sources at the Viz site.
  • Shonen Jump Graphic Novels: The Compilation Edition - released at places such as Comic Con, contains previews for selected Shonen Jump series. It later replaced "Graphic Novels" with "Manga" in the title, due to the change of the main SJ manga line. It is regular manga sized.
  • Shonen Jump Advanced: The Compilation Edition - same as the other, only made aspecialy for the Advanced line.

SJ Manga image

At the Viz official site at this page it has an image for the manga line logo. I think it would be a great addition to the "Imprint" section. – J U M P G U R U @Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 05:28, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Non-Weekly Jump series

I think we should have a section that focuses on the series in SJ that were not in the original Weekly Jump. For example Yu-Gi-Oh! Move??

Why is the title "Shonen Jump" when it's written as "SHONEN JUMP" on the cover (I checked the archives, no proposal like this has been made... btw great archives :P)? No, it should not be moved nor renamed. As the lead notes, its name is Shonen Jump and it is stylized SHONEN JUMP. We do not pay attention to those sorts of stylizations like that, per the naming guidelines (see Wikipedia:Naming conventions#Use standard English for titles even if trademarks encourage otherwise). That's also why we use Viz Media, not VIZ and Funimation not FUNimation. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 06:05, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
