Newspaper articles for R E Shute death[edit]

I am placing these links here as a just in case someone would like to expand the section dealing with R E Shute and the instigation of the Shute shield trophy. They may or may not be useful.

Is this an amateur or semi-professional competition ?[edit]

Finance nature of competition needs to be mentioned. Purely amateur or do any players get paid ? Did anything change when Rugby allowed professionalism ? Rcbutcher (talk) 00:09, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sydney University Football Club[edit]

In which year did the club begin? The club claims 1863. However, according to the club wiki page it is questionable. A recent update to the Shute Shield page mentioned a game with Newington College in 1863. But the college had only begun in July of that year with just 16 students.
