Comments[edit]

Although Dutch "zoet water" translates to "fresh water", the translation of Zoetermeer is not "fresh water lake". It is "southern lake" (just like the place name Zoeterwoude means "southern woods"). Both are named after their geographical relation to Leiden. NPOV[edit]

Quite a pro-Dutch bias. Black Legend. Haarlem citizens were not massacred after successful spanish siege. Concerning the breaking of several dykes as a measure to stop the Spanish siege, there is a monument in Capelle aan den IJssel which shows where one of these dykes was destroyed. I am planning to write a new article on this monument and would like to add the Groenedijk Monument to article. Be aware of the fact that the article of the Groenedijk Monument does not yet exist but will be created in the very near future.
