A Sinclair station, with all the logos and Graphics, appeared in the town of Marlborough, Ulster County, New York, in March 2018. What's the deal? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.206.7.25 (talk) 20:26, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Missing information[edit]

Shouldn't there at least be a mention of the relationship between Sinclair Oil and the Teapot Dome Scandal?Jtyroler (talk) 11:29, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also, shouldn’t there be mention of Sinclair Belgium, the company the NY execs tried to start in the early 1960s? 2600:8800:1D00:3D70:A15C:9C38:5AE3:1E54 (talk) 18:19, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

And the lawsuit from 1939 in which a HS Chemistry teacher to which Sinclair had sent a free sample of oils lost an eye and suffered other injuries when he added liquid from a bottle they had sent him labeled "kerosene" but actually contained water to sodium metal causing an explosion. Where's the source about the bribe to Mussolini? I thought Wikipedia had standards.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.78.121.8 (talkcontribs) 20:32, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we do have standards. One of those standards includes signing one's comments on Talk Pages. —QuicksilverT @ 00:46, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, that was helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.70.193.2 (talk) 19:52, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stock ticker/symbol for Sinclair Oil ?[edit]

What's the stock ticker for Sinclair? It's impossible to find on Google. Is it under a different name? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.138.64.133 (talk) 03:32, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There's no ticker symbol because the organization is now a private company; no shares are traded on the open market. Zenithian (talk) 21:00, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copy editing[edit]

Performed a general copy-edit. Generally, the article was in good grammatical shape, with some minor edits and punctuation fixes required. Macwhiz (talk) 01:30, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Television series[edit]

Having been a child in the 1960's, I have happy memories of Sinclair service stations and dinosaur toys. Although by the 1990's I already lived outside the United States, I was cheered to hear of the debut of a television program which I thought was entitled "The Sinclairs". A Wikipedia search turned up "[Dinosaurs (TV_series)]" and showed both that it had a longer run than I had realized and that there were more allusions to the company than I had realized, including characters named B.P. Richfield and Ethyl Phillips.

Given the long run and the thematic connections, I think it fitting to add a reference to this series under a rubric such as "[References in] Popular culture". I suppose that this reference could be combined with the one now called a "Parody". 178.219.76.12 (talk) 10:10, 7 November 2014 (UTC) Douglas W. Boone[reply]

holders and clients[edit]

In the mid-2010s, Sinclair fuel stations began actively spreading across southern California [...] with holders offering attractive deals for potential clients to make the switch from a private brand to the Sinclair name brand.

I think this means that Sinclair sub-distributors(?) enticed owners of independent stations to join up, but am far from confident that I have correctly understood the words "holders" and "clients". Holders of what? —Tamfang (talk) 18:20, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Intro suggests brand is defunct?[edit]

The past-tense wording of the intro section suggests to the reader that Sinclair no longer exists as a brand. The named corporation (Sinclair Oil Corporation) is defunct post the HollyFrontier acquisition, but not the brand. List of automotive fuel retailers links to this article, not to HF Sinclair, and the latter's article HF Sinclair does not mention retailing. Barbicels (talk) 21:36, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
