there's a mention of basic channel influence in a nice citable wire review i must dig out. also a more overt mention of african percussion in another one i have somewhere. and personally i really dig what these guys are doing, it's a little different... --Kaini 04:26, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's a lot of Middle Eastern/other world music influence in Shackleton too (eg "Hamas Rule"); I'll try to add something about that at some point. It seems like The Wire is really a godsend for articles like this.--P4k 04:42, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yeah, they can't get enough of dubstep lately it would seem. that primer article in particular has about a million references in it. --Kaini 04:45, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Re: "Blood On My Hands" - "The original track eschews drum presets for dancing African percussion and is driven by an almost funereal sub-bass, creating a surreal union of Pole and The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari," from the Walmsley article in The Wire Primers, already cited in the article (p. 93). Walmsley also compares Shackleton's "You Bring Me Down" to Lee Perry. 76.97.68.5 (talk) 03:10, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
