Several issues that need attention[edit]

There are a number of issues to address in this article:

  • The largest passage in the article is the first paragraph of the "background" section, which is a direct quote from the cited source Complex (blog). We are not supposed to use blogs as primary sources for a number of reasons, but I believe this particular blog will pass all of the checks because it's affiliated with a legit, published magazine. However, we still can't copy directly from this blog or any source. We need to paraphrase or reword in our own words. As the paragraph is right now, we could be be in trouble for plagiarism and copyright infringement. The section needs to be rewritten. I realize some of the background given is important in establishing the origin of the name of this body of work, but not everything said in this section is necessary. We could pare down and still get the essence of the origin or the name, reference the source, and people would be free to read the entire story on the referenced blog. If we're unable or unwilling to word this section in a different way so that it's not a direct quote of the source, the section will likely be deleted.
  • The other two references given in the article are, as far as I can tell, "traditional" stand-alone blogs that are not part of or affiliated with a primary publication. I don't believe we're allowed to use blogs as primary sources in Wikipedia articles. In order to keep the sections that cite these blogs, we'll need to also cite some primary sources, such as print publications or their online equivalents, run by the same company, etc. If you have any questions on this or want to discuss it, please do!
  • The infobox lists a number of reviews/ratings, but does not cite any references, so the reviews and ratings are unverified. Just linking to the Wikipedia page that discusses the periodical that supposedly did the review/gave the rating, is not enough in terms of backing up reviews/ratings that are being listed as fact. If we don't provide verifiable, primary sources for these statements, they will be deleted.which include both internal links and properly cited references. However, there needs to be a reflist in the article for these references to be properly listed.

I fixed the infobox references so they now appear in the reflist. The first two points still need attention though. Hananekosan (talk) 05:05, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Album Review[edit]

I would like to make a request to add a Canadian album review for this artist. We received an advance from Universal Music Canada and would love to show a different point of view on the release.

This is a review for the So Far Gone EP and not the original mixtape. You might want to post this recommendation on the page for this EP.--C43S4R (talk) 22:38, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violation[edit]

The text that follows the artist quote in the 'Background' section was copied from MTV.com (Exclusive: Drake To Re-Release So Far Gone Mixtape} in this edit. The copyrighted text has been removed. Yappy2bhere (talk) 05:40, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Billy Joel's Uptown Girl[edit]

I highly doubt "Uptown" samples this song. LIsten to both songs, its pretty obvious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.79.246.70 (talk) 03:12, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
