Σχορτσανίτης = Schortsanitis[edit]

Although his name has been variously rendered in the Latin alphabet as Skortsianitis and Schortsianitis, the correct transliteration is Schortsanitis, as per the Greek spelling. For what it's worth, that is also how it appears on the back of his jersey at the 2006 FIBA World Championship.--ΚέκρωΨ 08:52, 2 September 2006 (UTC)< /br>[reply]

Isn't his Greek name Σοφοκλής Σχορτσιανίτης though? That would render Schortsianitis.107.5.143.129 (talk) 00:51, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No. The correct spelling is Schortsanitis. Someone just keeps putting the wrong spelling on the article. The Greek article is spelled wrong.Bluesangrel (talk) 12:21, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, this is a big problem. Someone spelled his name wrong once a long time, as Schortsianitis, even though the correct spelling is Schortsanitis. But to this day people are editing the article to the wrong spelling. It really is a big problem with this article.Bluesangrel (talk) 12:20, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace vs hometown[edit]

Some people keep reverting Sofo's birthplace to Greece. The truth is, as everybody in Greece knows (see e.g. [1] [2]) that Sofo was born in Tiko, Cameroon, but considers Kavala in Greece to be his "hometown" since he started playing basketball there.

The profile in nba.com, which some are using as a reference, explicitly says "hometown", not "birthplace". Please stop reverting. elpincha (talk) 00:25, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
