Clean up

I do not believe Blur have an SSL console as stated. They disbanded some years ago and have reformed only for 2009 concerts, not recording. I installed a Neve VR for Damon Albarn and a Tonelux Rack for Alex James and have not come across any references to SSL consoles. I have a query though - did SSL commence business in Stonesfield before moving to Begbroke? Jwh64 (talk) 14:21, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Right, I've started a little bit of cleanup work by moving the obvious corporate blurb around a bit, putting some actual information at the beginning of the article and heading it all up as company information. --DavidP 22:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

I've started breaking the article up into more digestible sections, moving things into these categories so they make sense and qualifying some of the statements made in the article with terms such as SSL claim that. --DavidP 22:53, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Taking the article forward

I now plan to address a few issues that will make the article a little more complete and perhaps create some more balance and authority:-

• Competititor products - substitutes and complimentary products.
• Competitor companies - keeping this to companies that complete in their market segment

• I'm not sure all this ardour stuff adds anything that informs the reader apart from opinion about SSLs treatment of Ardour. Also the references are rather poor quality. I think this really breaks the NPOV guidelines and has been added purely to promote a somewhat partisan view of Ardour. DavidP02

• Just like to point out that the picture of "Interior look of the SSL 4000 Buss Compressor unit" is not a picture of any unit ever built by SSL. I guess it's one of the many 3rd party clones that are around. As a long time SSL employee, and one of the designers of the new outboard range I have a bit of a vested interest in this, but it would be good to either remove the picture or change the caption. • That photo is not of an SSL compressor, and I doubt it's of a 3rd-party product either. It appears to be a homemade clone based on the Gyraf "GSSL" DIY project. I think discussion of the SSL Bus Compressor, including the rackmount model, would be a valuable inclusion and would benefit from a discussion of the various derivatives out there - there are products by Smart, Roll Music Systems, Dramastic Audio, and others - not to mention a robust DIY project community - that are all clearly influenced by this classic compressor design. --Justinulysses (talk) 05:24, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

The photo on this page captioned "SSL Duality in Abbey Road studios" actually shows the Neve 88RS in studio 1. There is an SSL Duality Delta at Abbey, but that's not it! I agree here. It is the Neve 88RS in Abbey Road Studio one. If you absolutely want to show an SSL console in Abbey Road Studios, then the SSL G+ in Abbey Road three would be an option (if anyone has pictures of it).
