Organized information into categories that seem to be running elements that Sookie deals with in the series: Family Life, Living Situation (which also contains elements of personality - better title?), and Relationships. Is it worth adding a section for telepathy? I'm not sure.

It is listed that Sookie Stackhouse is a human telepath, but there are several indications that she is more than just a telepath. In the first episode of season 1, after Sookie saves Bill from the Rattrays, he asks her several times, "What are you?" This is the first hint that she is something other than a human who reads minds. Also, throughout the series Eric continues to show unusual interests in Sookie because of her "talents." But he later admits that there is something different from other humans, something that makes her special and he continues to get Sookie to drink of him until he eventually tricks her during Season 2. Sookie also exhibits a strange new talent during season 2 when she stands up to Maryann in an attempt to protect Bill; she sends a strange wave of electricity out of her hand and onto Maryann's face stunning her and prompting her to ask the question "What are you?" Sookie intrigues Maryann just like Eric has continued to be, further hinting at a supernatural significance to Sookie's being. It is unknown whether this new ability is only effective to maenads or if it can affect everyone. The Queen gives another piece of evidence during Bill's visit to her home. The Queen tells Bill that the reason he feels so attached to Sookie is due to a difference in her blood from other humans. Still there is only speculation as to whether she is human or more than human; regardless of how her abilities have rendered her a magnet to other supernatural forces throughout the series.--Mmaya1 (talk) 08:02, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Who is Pam, under Family life section?[edit]

Sookie's "new" powers[edit]

They are not revelead in season 3 episode 4 as stated in the description here: "It is also revealed that Sookie has more unknown powers when the Vampire king of Mississippi comes to take her. As Sookie is being seized by a bodyguard werewolf she "blasts" him away with a flash of light that comes out of her hand." Sookie reveals the same kind of power in the season 2 already when she blasts away the Meanad.

Pronunciation of "Sookie"?[edit]

The article intro could use a parenthetical mention of how "Sookie" is pronounced. If you do a Google search you will see it is a question others are asking, too. Never having heard of this series or the TV adaptation, I looked up the name and it appears to be a variant of the old English Sukey, a derivation of Susan type names. Oddly, for a waitress character, Sukey in England would be thought of as a typical 18th century maid's name. It is not popular now. Claverhouse (talk) 19:12, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I added a reference citing "Sooky" as a nickname for Susan in the nineteenth century Southeastern U.S. I also noted the case of the beloved character "Sook" in several stories starting with A Christmas Memory set in Southern Alabama by Truman Capote.
