Wilderness[edit]

  • SUWA also works to protect areas in Utah that it believes qualifies as Wilderness under the federal Wilderness Act of 1964 from uses which SUWA believes is incompatible with Wilderness or would cause these areas to be disqualified from Wilderness consideration [1], such as off-road vehicle use, mountain biking [2], aircraft over flights, grazing, oil and gas development, and mining.

Though mountain biking is not allowed in federally-designated wilderness areas, I don't believe that SUWA is targetting that activity. I couldn't find anything on their website about it. -Will Beback 18:41, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They are shutting down every bit of land they can. You can no longer see painted arch in Canyonlands National park because it takes more than a day to walk to it and they will not issue a camping permit. They tried to make it illegal to take your dogs for a walk in public lands!!! These guys are the PETA of the conservationists. NUTS!!! Rich lobbiests who get backed by big money and keep the local governments from having a say in anything. Do not give these guys your money. They will erase anything that doesn't say they are great!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sickotakenitfrmdaman (talkcontribs) 02:24, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
