I remember there were accusations of manipulation (jobbery) after that game.--Severino (talk) 14:44, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I thought that because of this result, FIFA (UEFA?) decided that the games in the final round would be played at the same time, such that the team does not know in advance how many goals should be scored. If true, this is what makes this match notable. --85.146.35.119 (talk) 13:10, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

it was not because of this match AFAIK but because of germany-austria in 1982 which ended to the unfavour of algeria which had already completed their games.--Severino (talk) 13:25, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suspicions[edit]

How can this article not have a section on the match being thrown by Malta? It's the key thing for which this match is famous for - the wide suspicion ("suspicion" hardly covers it) that Malta had been paid to concede that absurd and conveniently exact number of goals. It's like having an article on The Titanic but not mentioning that it sank. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.41.17.44 (talk) 10:07, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Have you got any evidence? As it's told in the article, Maltese football federation launched its own inquiry and found nothing. Here we talk about "facts", not "suspicions". 79.108.110.22 (talk)
