What's a bin?[edit]

As far as i understand, it's an interval. Imagine making a histogram, each interval within which the quantity is counted is known as a bin. you could think of it like plotting data on an x-y scatter plot, and every value that falls in a certain x-interval is thrown in that bin to be averaged with the others in that bin.
