Article Needs improvements[edit]

I placed the Technical and Cleanup tags on this article because:

Technical: The introduction does not give enough context for a reader to easily grasp what exactly this article is talking about. I see fixing this primarily as writing a proper introduction and perhaps formatting the ToC so as to move progressively detailed areas into better defined areas, while making more simple, broadly focused context providing material availible to the reader first (I appreciate the depth of information included).
Cleanup: There are some formatting issues with the citations/sources, and to fix the previous problem, it may be advisable to re-arrange the ToC (or add material that gives a more balanced perspective.)
