@ColonelHenry: Multiple tags were just placed on this page with no explanation. In what way is the number of cites insufficient? - 20 seems about appropriate for a page of this length, but perhaps not. Are there particular sections or particular claims that needs cites? And please explain what you would like to see fixed for the other tag, which mentions a laundry list of issues. Barryjjoyce (talk) 04:31, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is information on the article that isn't sourced that requires citations, per WP:V, WP:RS. As for a copyedit--there's issues of overlinking, see WP:OVERLINK.--ColonelHenry (talk) 04:38, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@ColonelHenry: Thanks for identifying the overlink issue, which was not apparent from your initial copyedit tag. I have now reduced the linking significantly, especially in the lead, so I thank you for your feedback. On the citations issue, you didn't answer my questions above. I was not asking you to give me a link to the citations policy, I was asking you to be more specific in identifying what exactly in the article needs citations. Please identify specific sections or claims that are troubling you so I can fix them. Barryjjoyce (talk) 06:45, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • You're welcome. As for the citation issue...not to be flippant, but, if you go through your article and see a sentence that isn't supported by a source, that would be a good start. There's quite a few of those.--ColonelHenry (talk) 06:47, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@ColonelHenry: Not every sentence in this article (or in most articles) needs a tag. I'm guessing you are aware of the following policy: "Wikipedia's verifiability policy does not require reliable sources for common well-known facts (e.g., "The Moon orbits the Earth"), or that citations be repeated through every sentence in a paragraph." In this article, "Dallas is the home of the Dallas Stars" is a good example. There are many others that are commonly-known facts. You'll need to be more specific. This is the third time I've asked you for more explanation. Barryjjoyce (talk) 07:09, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Commonly known facts is a cop-out, and if you read any of my GAs and FAs, it's fair to say trying to pull that one over on me insults my intelligence. Besides, it's 2:18 a.m. here, I would have responded later today. If you say something that someone could challenge, or make an attribution and not provide the source it came from, or provide a fact that isn't obvious (there is a difference between the moon orbiting the earth and saying the Mavericks won in 2011 which isn't commonly known unless you're a sports fan who obsesses over stuff like that). And with just Nowitzki? what did he do it alone? That's the kind of stuff that needs to be copy-edited and polished. Write as though you're writing for someone who knows nothing about Dallas who would like to find out more. --ColonelHenry (talk) 07:21, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • and you should probably cite the table. As a diehard baseball fan who went to the series those years (ex-girlfriend lives in Garland was a Rangers fan), I could tell you when the Rangers took the pennant...but still needs a source (like MLB.com, or a baseball stats book, etc).--ColonelHenry (talk) 07:31, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that's helpful. I'll chip away at this over the next few days. Barryjjoyce (talk) 07:37, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
