what cleanup is required? -19:55, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

It is too "homey" and lacks objective professionalism. I'm working my way through the Alberta towns and will work on this page when I get a chance. Cadillac 23:03, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- Could you clearly define "homey" so someone else could try to fix that problem? Like give an example from the page? --19:29, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

I don't know the precise area, though I have driven through it. You can avoid the "homey" approach by being specific.

  • "with plenty of business" -- be specific with a number, e.g., "74 businesses" or "businesses ranging from specialty shops to major franchises" or "three car dealerships, two hotels, 2 strip malls, 3 indoor malls, etc."
  • "it is simple to travel there" -- be specific, e.g., "a 15 km drive"
  • "which is not often" -- that is definitely a homey expression. I'd erase it.
  • "huge amount of businesses" -- redundant ? You have already said there were plenty
  • "plenty of choice" - redundant also?
  • "kilometres of bike trails" -- how many kilometers?
  • "named in a fashion that they use the first letter" -- awkward wording

I'm a retired college English teacher, so forgive me for being critical. I am sure you want to have a quality report for this community. Cheers, Cadillac 20:23, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I totally agree with you, Cadillac. As a resident of Spruce Grove, I have taken the liberty of cleaning up the "homeyness", though I have not added any additional facts. Feel free to make anymore "critical" comments. Without them, this article would not be as good as it is now. Jellomania 22 February 2006

The Ken Scott linked to in the article is not the same Ken Scott as is the mayor! :) This article still needs work. The section on the naming system needs to be verified, and a section could be added about the history of Spruce Grove. I've heard that it once had large town fire or something? I was born here and raised here. 28 years later, I have seen Spruce Grove grow to almost 20,000 citizens and the overall area increase a lot! We need to make our community well known to the rest of the world!--Mcmlxxviii 15:05, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Alberta which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. 117Avenue (talk) 00:35, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Former residents[edit]

There is a section on notable residents of Spruce Grove, but it doesn't note one notable individual who was a resident of Spruce Grove at the time he began to be noticed, even though he moved out later.

It is John Byrne of which I speak. Quadibloc (talk) 19:26, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The John Byrne article does not mention he past residency in Spruce Grove. We'll need a reference from a reliable source to confirm his past residency before adding him to the list, either on his article or on this article when added to the list. Hwy43 (talk) 06:25, 20 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
