Richard Bullock
Richard Bullock alias Deadwood Dick - does this have any connection here? RupertB 20:32, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
Richard Bullock was born in the parish. There were several people who took the name 'Deadwood Dick', He was one of them.

Bells
What has happened here?
"A new peal of six bells, in the key of G, were dedicated on 13 February 1883 (Shrove Tuesday); some of the previous five bells were broken and one had fallen owing to a weak beam. The bells, cost approximately £300, weigh about 2 tons with the tenor (11.5 cwt) inscripted with ″Rev. N. F. Chudleigh, vicar; W. Stephens, J. Stephens, churchwardens, 1883″. The fifth bell is inscribed with the name of the contractor, ″W. Aggrett, Chagford, Devon″.[35] "
I don't know where this refers to but it is definitely not St Columb Major. St Columb has had a ring of 8 since 1776 and from memory this page used to have some accurate information about them and their overhaul in 1950. I'm afraid the above is a mistake. St Columb has always had a rector, not vicar, and never one called Chudleigh from what I recall; not sure where the quote refers to.

- Yes, Nicholas Ford Chudleigh was vicar of St Columb Minor 1841-1884, see this about St Columb Minor church and this about St Michael's in Newquay. DuncanHill (talk) 20:25, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
Yes having looked it up that quote ties in with St Columb Minor - it crossed my mind but I had thought they were an eight before the 1880s - turns out they were only augmented to an eight in 1939. Still seem to recall there being some more detailed info on this page about the bells in the past but might be wrong.
