The Churchill connection[edit]

The Bishop of Knaresborough[edit]

Does anyone know which Bishop of Knaresborough it was who made the famous remark about Jackson's memorial service? It's been tagged with a request for clarification. It seems highly likely that it was John Bateman-Champain. Not only are his dates right, but in his youth he had been a first-class cricketer. But I can't be certain. Thanks to however it was who confirmed that this was correct. JH (talk page) 20:41, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
