Cast list uncited[edit]

The only source cited for the list of main cast members is this article. The cited source does not state that these cast members will be returning for Season 2; it just refers to those actors as co-stars of the series, based on what was already known about the series at the time the article was written. The article is obviously not written with any knowledge about which actors will return for season 2, and does not assert any such knowledge. It is not a reliable source on the Season 2 cast. AJD (talk) 18:02, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It says they are cast members for the series, not just the first season, and there is no reliable source contradicting it unless you have on to provide? - adamstom97 (talk) 00:50, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It says they are cast members for the series, and as such they can be listed in the article on the series, but it doesn't say they're in season 2 of the series specifically and so it doesn't support listing them as such in this article. "No reliable source has said they're not returning" isn't what Wikipedia's standard for verifiability demands. Has any reliable source stated that these actors will return for season 2? By listing them in this article, we're implying to our readers that such a statement has been made. AJD (talk) 06:41, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We can mark the ref with a better source needed tag if you think that is necessary, but we still don't need to prove that they are coming back when we have a source explicitly stating that they are starring in the series in general. - adamstom97 (talk) 23:50, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As you know, sometimes cast members change between seasons of a series. The fact that someone with no inside information wrote, before production on season 2 had even begun, that these actors were in the cast of, as you put it, "the series in general" doesn't imply that they're returning for season 2! AJD (talk) 01:07, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I would say that there should be a link to the cast section of the main Star Trek: Picard page and only list those who confirmed they would be coming back since season to season turnover is not uncommon. Stewart has said that he does not think Treadaway will return [1]. I do not know if that story is worth including at the moment but the best answer would be to take him out of the cast on this page, IMHO. Someone in SoCal Area (talk) 02:16, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We have a source saying Treadaway stars in the series (which includes this season, which was known of when the former statement was made), and we have a source who thinks Treadaway may not be coming back. We need a better source saying he isn't returning before we start contradicting reliable sources. - adamstom97 (talk) 10:12, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There is no contradiction between "Treadaway stars in the series" and "Treadaway may not be coming back". For example: Gates McFadden costarred in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Gates McFadden did not come back for season 2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation. McFadden shouldn't appear on a cast list for season 2 of TNG, even if there are reliable sources that describe her as a cast member of "the series". AJD (talk) 14:42, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That is not the same situation. We know for sure that she did not come back. - adamstom97 (talk) 22:16, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and? My point is, a reliable source stating that an actor is in the show doesn't imply that they're in, specifically, the second season of the show. True, unlike McFadden, we don't "know for sure" that any actor isn't returning for season 2 of Picard (pace Treadaway). But Wikipedia doesn't require a reliable source that something is not the case in order to not state it in an article. We do require a reliable source stating that something is the case to include it in the article, and no such source has been adduced for who is in the season 2 cast of Picard. AJD (talk) 23:19, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We do have a source saying they are in the second season. It isn't the best source, but it is better than nothing. Now you need a better source to claim otherwise. It isn't that complicated. - adamstom97 (talk) 23:34, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The source cited does not state that. AJD (talk) 23:40, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rumors[edit]

What about the online rumors that - - -

1. Patrick Stewart is not happy with the direction of the plot/storyline for Season 2?

2. Stewart may not return for Season 2?

Just curious. 2600:8800:785:9400:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 08:55, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

We don't include rumours in Wikipedia. If you have a reliable source discussing something like this based on credible information then we could add that. - adamstom97 (talk) 03:10, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cast for the season[edit]

Keeping track of the cast to help determine who is recurring as well as credit order: - adamstom97 (talk) 07:19, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I threw in the "and" for the main listing. Also only Whoopi Goldberg was credited as special guest star in the opening sequence for 201 AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 01:55, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
These don't have any effect on our cast listing so I have removed them. Also, de Lancie was credited as a special guest star at the end of the episode. - adamstom97 (talk) 02:01, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Original Network[edit]

Surely Amazon Prime is also the international original network as it's broadcast on Prime at the same time (give or take a day or 2) as P+ plus Prime calls it an "Amazon Original" 1701Will (talk) 15:16, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is only one "original network", even if other networks release the show internationally not long after. - adamstom97 (talk) 01:30, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
