Find correct name The airport is not listed as João Paulo II anywhere. The airport's own website calls itself simply Ponta Delgada, and has no mention of João Paulo.

Template:Regions of Portugal: statistical (NUTS3) subregions and intercommunal entities are confused; they are not the same in all regions, and should be sublisted separately in each region: intermunicipal entities are sometimes larger and split by subregions (e.g. the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon has two subregions), some intercommunal entities are containing only parts of subregions. All subregions should be listed explicitly and not assume they are only intermunicipal entities (which accessorily are not statistic subdivisions but real administrative entities, so they should be listed below, probably using a smaller font: we can safely eliminate the subgrouping by type of intermunicipal entity from this box).

Disambiguation[edit]

This article was named State of Maranhão, but there is also a current entity called State of Maranhão, so this is an ambiguous name. Therefore State of Maranhão = Maranhão (state) = Maranhão State was made a disambiguation page, along the lines of Amazonas State.

Furthermore the convention for entities in South America is to have "(state)" as disambiguator. Rio de Janeiro (state), São Paulo (state), Miranda (state) or if this is not sufficient to add a further term, e.g. Amazonas (Brazilian state). What YOU have done is not wiki policy. YOU did chose an ambiguous name. And now YOU come and blame others. You are welcome to edit Latin America articles, but YOU like ME better follow WP policies. Also REVERTING with the only reason "no request" is NOT in line with WP policies. So come down from your colonial horse and work in cooperation. History - capital[edit]

In the history section there are two apparently contradictory statements:

After the 1670s Belem became the operational base of the governors and it was formally designated the state capital in 1737.

and

In 1751 ... its capital was moved from São Luís to Belém.

I don't know which of these is right (I suspect the former) but it could do with fixing - and referencing. Bagunceiro (talk) 22:03, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
