I have seen the statue of Fr. Damien[edit]

I have seen the statue of Fr. Damien in person, and I could swear that it was made from volcanic lava. Very appropriate for Hawaii!24.121.195.165 (talk) 09:10, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Father Damien (Escobar) → Statue of Father Damien – This is the recommended style for public statues at MOS:ART/TITLE. No disambiguation is needed as there are no other statues of Father Damien with articles (per WP:D2D). Ham II (talk) 09:09, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose this one as it is not a portrait sculpture, which is the criteria for these moves. A portrait consists of a work of art "in which the face and its expressions are predominant". On this statue the face is important but not predominant, as the body and clothes of the art depict Damien's life and leprosy and fill out the much larger history-based story. Support per nom. This is a portrait statue, just not a very naturalistic one (not surprisingly, given the poor photos recording his appearance). Any full-length portrait is obviously going to have a lot of body in it. Johnbod (talk) 15:44, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
