I was the lecturere on film history at Stanford University for eight years, specializing in the films of Andrei Tarkovsky. Steve Dillon's books are the most comprehensive I know of on the subject. I do not know him personally. EricDiesel (talk) 15:01, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then I'm sure you'll be able to bring the article you created up to Wikipedia's standards of notability, as outlined in WP:N. I'm sure that you and I both agree that it would be better for that to happen rather than the article being deleted. Unfortunately, in its present state, it is very likely to be deleted. I added more stuff since you nominated for AfD. I have to go to a physical world volunteer botanay related activity (related to the Santa Monica Mountains article, for the rest of the day, so please hold off for a little bit if the additions are inadequate. I note that Steve Dillon goes to another person, so I need to do a disambiguation page. I am also doing contributions on a number of mathematics, analytic philosophy, music, dance, film, and botany articles. See my contribs from yesterday on flora of Santa Monica Mountains, which is also a work in progress, like most of the botany articles.

The fact that he's a full Professor is something of an assertion of notability (see WP:PROF). In addition, both of the books listed as published by a serious academic press. Speedy deletion of Steven Dillon

Thanks. I added some info on him. I don't know him (I plan to fix that in the future, however), but his book is a basic text for any film class wroth its salt. Unfortunately, part of the influence of Tarkovsky is his the utter hate many express toward his films, except for the creme de la creme. For example, I was talking to the guy writing the script for an upcoming major Ridley Scott film, and he rolled his eyes and said something nasty at the mention. So getting notability for a book on the effect of Tarkovsky films outside academia is more difficult than screening a Tarkovsky film and expecting an audience with more than the handful of people who came to it at the previous screening in a differnt city a few years earlier. I am plugging through a Flora of Plants of Santa Monica Mountains (only for plants for which I have my own photos). Am I doing it right? I was supposed to be at a volunteer ecology thing all day, but missed it trying to keep this stuff up. I am moving this thread over to the talk page of the article it is about.
