Meaningfulness of SOS[edit]
This formula does not seem to be a great indicator of how strong a teams opponents are. There are many examples that can skew this value away from how strong your opponents actually are. Since it depends only on the opponents you played (and who they played), if this is isolated to a region or subset of the sport, it becomes less relevant. You could be playing all weak teams, where some are relatively better than others, and get a high value for SOS. If divisions are less isolated and more cross-divisional games exist, the equation becomes a better indicator.Niluop (talk) 03:33, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

SOV[edit]
Strength of Victory is the combined record of all the teams a team has beaten. What about the teams a team has tied? After all, a tie counts as half a victory. 74.104.189.176 (talk) 16:55, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
Oddity[edit]
An oddity of Strenth of Victory is this: If you beat a team that also beat you, then in calculating your SOV you include that team's record, which includes a win against you! Where else do you get credit for another team beating you? 74.104.189.176 (talk) 17:10, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
