What does this mean?[edit]

"These remixes can be found on various 'Stupid Girl' and 'Milk' formats."

What the hell are Stupid Girl and milk formats?

  • This refers to the various 12" vinyl and CD formats of Garbage singles "Stupid Girl" and "Milk" I have removed the above line in any case, and will write a better worded section on the Stupid Girl remixes. Breakinguptheguy (talk) 18:09, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

REM fact?[edit]

"The song also appears to sample Orange Crush by R.E.M. during the song's bridge."

  • I have removed this, because I believe it is has no basis in fact. I have been a hardcore Garbage fan since 1996, and have never once read or heard a quote by any of the band referring to this song while discussing Stupid Girl, or indeed any other Garbage song. If it was claimed by, or alluded to, in a written publication then, until it is substantiated as a fact, it could be included in a Critical Reception section of the page. I have just reached this entry (and the discussion page) looking for confirmation on that: the drum rolls in "Stupid Girl" ABSOLUTELY ARE the opening for "Orange Crush". I was just listening to Garbage's song now and happened to notice something weird I wasn't expecting. As a huge R.E.M. fan, it took me about three seconds to identify "Orange Crush". If no one on the media has identified it before, well, too bad, and if the band has never mentioned it, then kudos to us who first found it.   • "Stupid Girl" is a song by alternative rock band Garbage for the band's self-titled debut studio album. --> Either change to "a song recorded by... for the band's..." or "a song by... from the band's..." It doesn't make much sense saying "a song by... for the band's..."
  • The song was composed and produced by bandmembers Duke Erikson, Shirley Manson, Steve Marker and Butch Vig, featuring lyrics about female empowerment, and a musical arrangement centered around both a repetitive bassline and a drum sample from The Clash's 1980 hit "Train in Vain". --> Way too long of a sentence. Can be broken up into two sentences.
  • The song was released by Almo Sounds in North America and Mushroom Records worldwide as the band's fourth international single in 1996, and it became their biggest hit in United States and the United Kingdom. --> This too can be two sentences.
  • Critics also reviewed positively to the song --> Oddly worded, and what did they say about the song? Generally?

  • I'm not seeing the genres stated in the infobox anywhere here. Typically, the genre is stated (with a source, of course) in the composition section and then said again in the infobox.
  • Everything else looks good.

  • I see no major issues here, although, I would suggest breaking this up into two sections. One of the release, and one of its chart performance.

  • The caption doesn't really explain the screenshot very well.

Critical reception and legacy[edit]

  • Missing apostrophe on Select.
  • Too long of a sentence; should be in three separate sentences.
  • Why the red link?

  • Where exactly is the source for each release date? I'd assume that it isn't stated in the single release itself, but if so, then it's fine.

  • Overall, the article is pretty well written; just a few adjustments to be made. Maybe some images could be added, it's a little bare, and surely there is enough room for one or two.
