Renamed[edit]

Renamed from Subway (passageway) as "passageway" -- which in British English usually refers to a corridor or hallway -- is not very apt here.

Prohibition, not warning[edit]

The sign in the second image is not, as previously indicated, a warning (which would be a red-bordered triangle) but a prohibition (red-bordered circle). The "Weak subway" part is (by virtue of its rectangular shape) information. -- Picapica 22:19, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

California[edit]

For the American definintion, I chose both an official (CalTrans) and an unofficial (Usenet post from June 25, 1998, Message ID 4ohk1.19555$dn.17141012@news.rdc2.occa.home.com ) citation for the term. I'm not sure, though, if the term is currently used. Mapsax 20:55, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking about California, I know the Sacramento Amtrak station uses the term "subway" to refer to their passageway under the tracks (some of them now a parking lot). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jmchuff (talk • contribs) 08:12, 4 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Subway in Toledo[edit]

There was such an underpass in Toledo, Ohio, by the Toledo Zoo, to cross under a main highway and railroad. It was called a "Subway" and had a logo to that effect on the buildings at each end of the passageway. One building is still extant as is the passageway, but it is now used for storage. The remainig building was removed during a zoo expansion that included the building of a pedestrian bridge to replace the old underpass. SUBWAY in US is mostly UNDERGROUND transit system[edit]

When they are built, the term pedestrian underpass is more likely to be used, since the word "subway" is most commonly used in the US to refer to rail-based rapid transit systems that are mostly underground, such as the New York Subway.-96.237.79.6 (talk) 03:48, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

wide range of wildlife subways[edit]
