Conflict of Interest[edit]

Is this a discussion of the science or an advertisement? A quick Google search shows the author is the product manager for Signature Analyst. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 214.16.248.2 (talk) 16:45, 30 June 2009

Good catch. The convenient link to Signature Analyst was added by User:Peter.borissow when he created the article. Interestingly enough the Vice President of Products at GeoEye is also named Peter Borissow. Quite a coincedence! I have removed both external links to products from the article. It's a shame it took almost two years for someone to notice. If anyone reading this sees such obvious external link pushing on article, feel free to be WP:BOLD and remove it yourself. Thanks for bringing it up. Cheers, DubiousIrony yell 21:54, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I conducted some more research to make sure this user didn't add links to the products he sells to other articles. After reviewing Peter.borissow's contributions, in my opinion this was a good faith edit. The user's edit history seems to be productive, mostly contributing new information about articles in his field. 1 2 3. I bring this up in case anyone decides to AfD this sucker because it was written by a person with a WP:COI. I think the author is a good contributor and was just trying to add info he's familiar with. Cheers, DubiousIrony yell 22:01, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suitability Analysis is not just GIS based[edit]

The word suitability has multiple contexts, and the analysis of suitability is more than just GIS based. Need elaboration here.--74.107.74.39 (talk) 01:30, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I like the changes you've made. I'm not familiar with suitability analysis at all so I'm afraid I'm not much help. What other fields does the term apply to that could be included in the article? DubiousIrony yell 02:13, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Possible References to Add[edit]

References to possibly add, however I will disclaim that they are primarily GIS based. These do provide critique and acknowledge the weaknesses regarding the reliance on GIS.

Merge?[edit]

Should this page and Suitability model be combined? They seem to be virtually the same thing. I have always used the term Suitability analysis. It is also roughly synonymous to Multiple-criteria decision analysis, but that page is much more non-GIS focused. Bplewe (talk) 03:48, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
