Ratings Section

Splitting the episode section

As long as the section is updated fairly shortly after the show finishes, I see no reason why it should be a separate article. I suggest it doesn't split. -Rick James.

Setting

Where exactly does this show take place in Australia? If someone could tell, that'd be awesome of you.

The article doesn't address the location of the school, only to say it was filmed in Melbourne. Personally, I don't think it's set in Melbourne, but actually somewhere outside Sydney. The reason for this is that Ja'mie lives in Sydney, yet is driven to school by her mum. It's unreasonable to assume that they either a) drive from Sydney to Melbourne every morning! or b) have moved house from Sydney to Melbourne between the time that We Can Be Heroes and SHH occupy (which, since her age hasn't changed, is presumably very little). She also mentions on the phone that to get home, she would have to take the train. She also mentions that they take the freeway to school in the morning. Also, in the final episode, her Hilford friend Brianna shows up sporting the school uniform. All of these things lead me to believe that the school is set somewhere in suburban Sydney, which means that the fact that the staff cars in the car park have Victorian licence plates is simply an anachronism. "Intended to insult"

I have removed Gareth Chamberlain's edit, which stated:

However it is becoming increasingly clear that creator Chris Lilley intended to insult certain groups with this series, particularly schoolgirls and the Tongan community.

There is nothing in the cited article that backs-up that claim. It covers the background work Lilley and Ryan Shelton performed to create and develop the characters of the series and We Can Be Heroes: Finding The Australian of the Year.  SEO⁷⁵ 13:46, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

I see it as merely opinion. It haven't seen any sign of intentionally attempting to insult any community. I should be taken less seriously. After all, it IS a comedy. -Jezzk (talk)

Why does the article have no reference to Jonahs ADHD? The series makes at least 3 references to his 'attention defecit' issues and to his 'being on and off Ritalin.' This is one of the best, most touching portrayals of ADHD I have seen on TV.

Semen stains

Was it semen on Jonah's tracksuit pants, or just something he placed there to look like semen?

In the context of the show, yes it was semen.

Jonah's alleged sexual assault?

Do we know that his allegation was in fact false? It seemed to me to be quite genuine, with Jonah only withdrawing it when his father threatened him. Also, planting a picture alluding to sexual abuse and then playing a victim to the staff seems to require way more cunning than Jonah has in his character. For a guy with no subtle bone in his body it certainly seems like a very elaborate hoax to pull off.

I did some googling around and opinion seems to be divided on whether it was real or not - perhaps the wikipedia article should mention this apparent ambiguity in its episode summary of Episode 4?58.172.185.40 11:51, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

For what it's worth, I fully believe it was alleged. It was clearly - from a comedy standpoint - set up early in the episode with Jonah being told to do his assignment for class, and then in his very next scene making the allegation. But that's just me. 150.203.236.178 04:29, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

I find it hard to believe that her sex was meant to be ambiguous until made reference to, as the article states now. I think most people would've noticed that she was a female from her introduction.
