Ratings Section[edit]

Is it really necessary to have a blow-by-blow description of the ratings? IMHO it really needs to be put in a paragraph highlighting bits (such as Prison Break competition). Oosh (talk) 01:04, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting the episode section[edit]

Since the show will only run for 8 episodes, and there's little information about them, I suggest the article not be split. The KZA 04:46, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree to this statement - matthew.wills —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthew.wills (talkcontribs) 02:54, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just one thing - it says that Jonah's father is "strict and conservative", but i don't believe this to be the case, as he is clearly aggressive and swears excessively. - Rob Leonard —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.186.21.213 (talk) 09:05, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's "conservative" as a euphemism for "reactionary". — Chameleon 02:37, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As long as the section is updated fairly shortly after the show finishes, I see no reason why it should be a separate article. I suggest it doesn't split. -Rick James.

I thought you were dead! Alive and watching Australian Comedy, eh?

Setting[edit]

Where exactly does this show take place in Australia? If someone could tell, that'd be awesome of you.

Try the Summer Heights High article.  SEO75 [talk] 08:52, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The article doesn't address the location of the school, only to say it was filmed in Melbourne. Personally, I don't think it's set in Melbourne, but actually somewhere outside Sydney. The reason for this is that Ja'mie lives in Sydney, yet is driven to school by her mum. It's unreasonable to assume that they either a) drive from Sydney to Melbourne every morning! or b) have moved house from Sydney to Melbourne between the time that We Can Be Heroes and SHH occupy (which, since her age hasn't changed, is presumably very little). She also mentions on the phone that to get home, she would have to take the train. She also mentions that they take the freeway to school in the morning. Also, in the final episode, her Hilford friend Brianna shows up sporting the school uniform. All of these things lead me to believe that the school is set somewhere in suburban Sydney, which means that the fact that the staff cars in the car park have Victorian licence plates is simply an anachronism. Jonah 15?[edit]

I thought he was 13?

Yeah, you're right. He's meant to be 13. --Jezzk (talk) 14:12, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Doug Peterson in the first episode ".....you can easily forget that he is just a 13 year old kid in year 8." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.79.1.210 (talk) 12:00, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Intended to insult"[edit]

I have removed Gareth Chamberlain's edit, which stated:

However it is becoming increasingly clear that creator Chris Lilley intended to insult certain groups with this series, particularly schoolgirls and the Tongan community.

There is nothing in the cited article that backs-up that claim. It covers the background work Lilley and Ryan Shelton performed to create and develop the characters of the series and We Can Be Heroes: Finding The Australian of the Year.  SEO75 [talk] 13:46, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I seem to have inadvertently cited the wrong article, I'll see if I can find the one I was referring to. Gareth Chamberlain 15:07, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see it as merely opinion. It haven't seen any sign of intentionally attempting to insult any community. I should be taken less seriously. After all, it IS a comedy. -Jezzk (talk)

Also note the final episode in which Lilly goes to the effort of making some pretty potent statements about how some Pacific Islanders may be treated in the Australian education system, through the storyline. Rotovia (talk) 00:29, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why does the article have no reference to Jonahs ADHD? The series makes at least 3 references to his 'attention defecit' issues and to his 'being on and off Ritalin.' This is one of the best, most touching portrayals of ADHD I have seen on TV.

Semen stains[edit]

Was it semen on Jonah's tracksuit pants, or just something he placed there to look like semen?

In the context of the show, yes it was semen.
Obviously it was something else - what I am saying is that even in the show, the character put something else there just to create an excuse to draw attention to himself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.209.160.233 (talk) 22:09, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jonah's alleged sexual assault?[edit]

Do we know that his allegation was in fact false? It seemed to me to be quite genuine, with Jonah only withdrawing it when his father threatened him. Also, planting a picture alluding to sexual abuse and then playing a victim to the staff seems to require way more cunning than Jonah has in his character. For a guy with no subtle bone in his body it certainly seems like a very elaborate hoax to pull off.

I did some googling around and opinion seems to be divided on whether it was real or not - perhaps the wikipedia article should mention this apparent ambiguity in its episode summary of Episode 4?58.172.185.40 11:51, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, this is speculation. Wikipedia is against original research, so we should keep the facts as it is, because that's how they were presented to us. *Hippi ippi 12:33, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, I fully believe it was alleged. It was clearly - from a comedy standpoint - set up early in the episode with Jonah being told to do his assignment for class, and then in his very next scene making the allegation. But that's just me. 150.203.236.178 04:29, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't matter. It is merely a plot characteristic that needs no mention, so far as to whether it was true or not, not without sources. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 12:10, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What are you guys on? Of course it wasn't real. He did he only to get out of his assignment. It was obvious and was meant to be. I recommend getting some lessons in common sense —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jezzk (talkcontribs) 14:09, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ja'mie King Section[edit]

Part of the end of the section: "...in a derogatory manner and claiming innocence over as it was by fault that those that it concerned found out is a stand out." What the hell is this trying to say?--Pharod42 21:58, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Season 2?[edit]

Will there be a season 2? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.169.69.111 (talk) 06:04, 7 January 2008 (UTC) - If anyone has info on why the show wasn't continued, that should be put in the article (because it's stated that season 1 was a success). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Timotgl (talkcontribs) 11:17, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Most likely not --Grimface 87 (talk) 06:29, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly doubt it mate. =[ -Jezzk (talk) 12:11, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Colloquialisms[edit]

Remove Tag There is currently a tag to review the use of colloquial terms, however, I would recommend removing it on the grounds that the particular subject matter of the show focuses very heavily on Australian identity. Rotovia (talk) 00:31, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further reveiw of the article, I doubt any reader would have an issue with the article in its current form. Rotovia (talk) 00:40, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New DVD Release[edit]

Mr G's name[edit]

Is Mr G's first name really Helen? Just wondering, as I've never heard it for a guy before, even though there is a Prime Minister by that name who is rather masculine. wdansey 09:55, 2 October 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wdd123 (talkcontribs)

It was in the show.  SEO75 [talk] 12:40, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Start date[edit]

The article states *twice* that the series debuted on 5 September 2007 and continued for eight weeks.

Ofa's sex[edit]

I find it hard to believe that her sex was meant to be ambiguous until made reference to, as the article states now. I think most people would've noticed that she was a female from her introduction. The section should be removed unless I'm really off base. 98.230.99.42 (talk) 23:46, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
