[Untitled][edit]

I was a pupil at this school between 1957 and 1964, and it was during this time that its name changed from “High School” to “Grammar School for Girls” — because at that time some secondary modern schools were being renamed as High Schools, and there was concern that this school should not be mistaken for a sec mod. There was also a later period when it was a comprehensive school, something not mentioned here at all.

A smaller point: in my day there was also a Mowbray House (I was in it, which is why I remember it), and I think some others — eight altogether? The role of houses then seems however to have been much less important then it is now.

I do not want to make any changes to the article because I speak only from personal experience of the place and have no firm dates, no special access to authoritative sources, nor special knowledge of Warwickshire and Birmingham education policies over this time — but there is huge scope for someone who does to improve this greatly!
