History section[edit]

The History section contains three detailed paragraphs on the career of the first owner of the property. Since this article is about a building, shouldn't this be trimmed down to a single paragraph so that it is not off-topic? - Shiftchange (talk) 21:20, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Such is the nature of bringing across outside content. Swain is clearly notable enough for his own article - he's biographised in multiple reliable sources on the first page of Google alone, so perhaps it's worth spinning that out into its own article. Association with a significant person is one of the possible reasons for heritage listing (and is one of the stated criteria in this particular place), so if the notability of the property is its heritage listing and the heritage listing is based on the significance of the person, it sort-of follows that the article needs to explain the significance of the person. But, yes, maybe he needs his own article as well. In these QHR articles, there are often these little biographies and other local history snippets that can be used in other articles, e.g. Francis William Sutton Cumbrae-Stewart and Zina Beatrice Selwyn Cumbrae-Stewart got their start from Scott Street Flats. I add a slightly modified QHR attribution to them as some of the tex is a straight copy-and-paste. But there are probably plenty more articles that can be created/enhanced than I am bothering with at the moment, so be bold! Kerry (talk) 22:39, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
