Previous record[edit]

As stated on the official Olympic homepage, it is Eamon Sullivan's, as it was set in another event namely the men's 4 x 100 freestyle relay. --Nikolaj Winther (talk) 08:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clean-up needed - January 2012[edit]

Clean up is needed on this page (and possibly other pages from the 2008 Olympics) in at least 2 areas (and I don't have the time to do these at the moment, so if someone wants to: go for it):

  • In prelims: the rank needs to be put in. This is the final placing for individuals who did not advance to the Semifinals (i.e. anyone outside those 16). Also, swimmers who scratch later rounds (like Mike Cavic in this event), still have that rank in the round in question, and still qualify for the next. To un-color them (or not list their ranking spot) because of this is wrong, and should not be done. Noting that they scratched in the "Notes" column should be sufficient.
  • In the records, the times from another event (the 400 Free Relay) should really not be listed as having been "in this competition". The competition for this page, is the Men's 100 Free event at the 2008 Olympics, and not the 2008 Olympics and really not the Men's 4x100 Free Relay, which was a different event entirely. A note can be placed that the time/record for the distance was lowered in the other event, but it shouldn't be listed as if the relay is part of the progression of the 100 free event (which is what including both in the card reads as). - Hooperswim (talk) 15:33, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
