To the IP that is insisting on removing information that Brazil beat the South American record in the 4x100-metre freestyle relay event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest in these 2 articles: Swimming at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships , and Swimming at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships – Men's 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay:

Wikipedia, or the people who truly understand and live in the "swimming world" (swimmers, fans, coaches etc) don't need FINA's approval to recognize any record. In fact, FINA is highly unorganized on the issue of data management. Until a few years ago they didnt put anything of AM, OC, ER, EU on the time lists (Omega is not FINA, OK?), just the WR, and even so the other records doesn't cease to exist just because FINA don't recognize it. Incidentally, you are the one who is claiming FINA doesn't recognize the record, who guarantees me that FINA don't do it? And even if they don't do it, that would be no reason to ignore the record. All the specialized media have always placed the South American record. And finally, the media doesn't say "record of North America" because this continent only has 3 countries, not counting that US has 99% of the records. Then they never mentioned the existance by total lack of necessity. South America and Oceania has more than 10 countries. Oceania records, people might say that they are irrelevant because Australia owns 95% of them, but "FINA / Omega" quote it, I respect them, because they are an area record, just like the South American record. Also understand that Omega is just a timing company, and FINA is bad at releasing athlete data, it's not like the IAAF (athletics) or ATP (tennis) where you enter their website and find complete data from all the athletes that exist or already existed. A short time ago, FINA began to put data on athletes' lives, however, they are very incomplete and only refers to more recent athletes. They are not the standard of reliability for "recognition" of records or any data.

Brazil beat both the Brazilian and the South American record. The South American record is, at the same time, national and area record, brazilian and south american record. So, nobody consider this only like a National record.
