Trivia[edit]

This symphony was the only one not included in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's 100 Symphonies of 2009, chosen by popular vote.

The "only one" what? Yes, that certainly seems trivial. I hope you're not suggesting the above should go into the article. TheScotch (talk) 07:25, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Description and analysis"[edit]

This section currently reads as if its author is not a native speaker of English. It needs extensive revision. The trick is navigating between the scylla and charybdis of plagiarism and original research, but if there's anyone with analytical source material reluctant himself to rewrite, I'd appreciate his leaving it--or links or citations--here. Thanks. TheScotch (talk) 07:33, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's also filled with OR, much of which is simply wrong. Definitely needs an overhaul. 134.173.80.123 (talk) 19:10, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Haydn 88 connection?[edit]

An anon just added an uncited statement that the theme to finale is the same as that of the finale of Haydn 88. The themes are (with the Haydn transposed to C major):

Beethoven: g'8 g'8 e'4 c'8 c'8 d'8 d'8 e'16 d'16 c'16 d'16 e'4
Haydn: g'8 g'8 e'8 e'8 d'16 c'16 b16 c'16 g8 g8 c'8 c'8 d'8 d'8 a'16 g'16 f'16 g'16 e'8

So there are similarities, but its also just a lot of notes from the I chord to establish the tonality. Is it enough of a similarity to include without a reference? Does someone have a reference?DavidRF (talk) 00:41, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Even just looking at the given notes here there doesn't seem to be any huge corrilation. Beethoven was inspired by Haydn in general sure (ya know, being his student and all) but they are hardly the same at all. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ (talk) 01:11, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Francis II quote[edit]

Does anyone have a citation for the Francis II quote? It seems a bit to much like being clever-after-the-fact anecdotal unless there's a good source for it. Hochithecreator (talk) 16:35, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
