After I loaded the first draft of the page the Wikipedia system posted back several complaints. I think I have fixed those problems but do not want to tamper with the complaints shown since I think that your editors would want to remove them or change them based on their analysis.

Now - Not an orphan, not unlinked to any other page. This page is now linked to and from the Shin hanga page via the added reference to Hiroaki Takahashi (also known as Shotei) in the Shin hanga page. I have linked the Hiroaki Takahasi page back to the Shin hanga page via the link reference to the Shin hanga movement.

Categories - I copied some of the categories from the Kawase Hasui page, since I thought that these were appropriate. I can click on the categories and see Hiroaki Takahashi in the categories and click back to the Hiroaki Takahashi page. So at least some basic and correct categories appear to me to be working.

I still have to fix the title of the page somewhat and will try to do that shortly.

Reason for Relevance. It can easily be argued that Hiroaki Takahashi, aka Shotei, is not a major artistic force in the Shin Hanga movement but since he produced a huge volume of prints which have made their way to western collections I am assuming that it is valid to enter him into Wikipedia. Also, his prints are often listed for sale in Japanese woodblock sales and I think it is important to be able to differentiate original vs. "knock-off" versions to help protect the buying public. The reference to Shotei.com helps the buying public to understand the complexities of pricing these prints and helps to give them a better idea of what a 'knock-off' would look like. I have mostly fixed the obvious titles and names issues. There are two people named Hiroaki Takahashi, this woodblock artist and a martial artist. I believe that I have separated these two pointer systems.

However, there is another somewhat more complex issue, rather typical of Japanese woodblock artists' names. Since Hiroaki Takahashi used various names, as traditional for woodblock artists, this confuses Western references to this artist. Right now in the Wikipedia system Hiroaki Takahashi and Shotei both appear to work to refer to this artist. There is at least one older page, i.e. for Shozaburo Watanabe, which contains a picture by Shotei but refers to the artist as Takahashi Shotei. Currently I have not tried to connect these older name references to Shotei and clearly would not want to change older pages since I do not know why or how that particular version of the artist's name was selected. For example, the picture may be listed with that particular name in various catalogues in museums. I am also hesitant to add these variations since there is another different artist with the first name Shotei (Shotei Hokuju), etc., and this might become silly to try to untangle. In my opinion, it is probably best to leave these cross references alone for now and see if they cause any problems where other users would want to add detail. Terrence Myr.
