Talk:Take Back the Night (song)

Currently the talk page has the "song" clarification but the article page does not. In light of this statement from the Director of the Take Back the Night Foundation: "All of a sudden on Wikipedia, Take Back the Night has a different definition. That’s not been helpful." We are not normally beholden to organizations and their trademarks, but supposing she's right we do need to be mindful of the effect of Wikipedia article titles on google search results. If the Foundation is the primary association in people's minds of the phrase "Take Back the Night", apart from the momentary popularity of a new hit song, perhaps it is more responsible of us and more encyclopedic to make that clear in the article title. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikidemon (talkcontribs) 02:21, 16 July 2013

– This article was recently moved to this title, without disambiguation, because the anti-domestic violence and anti-rape protest is actually called the "Take Back the Night Foundation". First, I don't think that's true; while the foundation that organizes the events is called the Take Back the Night Foundation, the actual event is called Take Back the Night. That article seems to be about the event, not the foundation. Either way, despite the fleeting fame of this particular song, I would argue that the foundation/event satisfies WP:PRIMARYTOPIC at the very least through long-term significance (having "substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term"). Indeed, it's also likely that after this song leaves the charts, the organization would also satisfy the usage criterion as well (even though Mr. Timberlake only heard of it this month). -- tariqabjotu 03:42, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. 14 July 2013‎ Status moved page Take Back the Night to Take Back the Night (protest) - should be reverted by WP:BRD. Clearly WP:PRIMARYTOPIC by a long mile. Should not be occupied by newly created Take Back the Night (disambiguation). In ictu oculi (talk) 21:37, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. I don't agree with Status's objection to not moving Take Back the Night Foundation to Take Back the Night. The article is not about the foundation; it's about the events. -- tariqabjotu 23:21, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: The previous move was performed rather preemptively; a bit too soon to say that this is the primary topic after less than a month of release. "Take Back the Night Foundation" doesn't seem like a very accurate page title, since the scope of the article is primarily on the rallies themselves as opposed to the foundation that organizes them.
