color of location marker[edit]

Hi! when we use the relief map the marker is hard to recognie because the brownish background merges with the red of the marker. Could somebody tag another color for the marker - please. love to learn something...ATB Wikirictor (talk) 20:28, 21 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's possible without hacking the Infobox ancient site template: there are other two other colors available (black and white), but the template appears to hardcode the red version of the archaeology symbol. Fraenir (talk) 14:15, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I read the discussion...it was like "the points you are making are all good and...can't argue with that....but still we can't change anything here" I found some alternative "styles"

IME the three-dots symbol usually refers to ruined or former settlements, although I’ve also seen it used generically. AFAIC the ideal solution would be to make the “type“ parameter in {{Infobox ancient site}} select which of a set of different symbols should be used. (Others might include forts, tumuli, tools, monuments, shrines, & battlefields.) OTOH red is pretty standard for location-map markers, and even with my deteriorating vision I can see the present one well enough against the pale-yellow map—if the standard background colour looks “brownish” that’s probably indicative of a monitor or CMS in need of adjustment.—Odysseus 1479 01:01, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
