What's in a name?![edit]

According to the Queensland Government's Place Name Register, there are multiple entries under various names:

Mount Tamborine (City, Town, Township)
Mount Tamborine (Locality Unbounded, Neighbourhood, Pocket within the locality of Tamborine Mountain)
Tamborine Mountain (Locality Bounded)
Tamborine Mountain (Plateau, Tableland)

Curiously none of them are classified as a mountain (I guess we have to make do with a plateau). I could have understood the use of different names for the geographic feature vs the populated places, but it seems we have both names in use for the populated places.
