Languages[edit]

Majority of the people in tank district speak pashto. The source being refered to is by Saraiki Natinoalist TV. However, evveryone in the country knows that pashto is the main language in Tank District. These are sources from a credable newspaper and Ethnologue(http://archives.dawn.com/weekly/herald/herald130.htm), http://www.ethnologue.com/map/PK_s. Mr. Kashmiri, All the major tribes in Tank (Bhittani, Wazir, Mahsud, Bannuchi and Marwat) are pashto speaking. Only non-pashtun tribe is Jat, also known as Jattars. Most of the time election is also won by a person from Bhittani tribe, clearly showing their numerical supperiority. Moroever, when Kyber Pakhtunkhwa wanted to introduce mother tongue as a part of curriculum, pashto was introduced in Tank (http://beta.dawn.com/news/566083/pashto-as-compulsory-subject-from-next-year). Here is the link clearly stating that pashto is the main languge of the district (http://prr.hec.gov.pk/Chapters/1413S-1.pdf), it by HEC Government of Pakistan. THe ethnologue map shows only pashto as a spoken language of Tank District, but i know from visiting tank that some jats expecially in the city speaks Saraiki (Not hindko). It's utterly irrelevant what language speaks the election winner and what is the additional language taught in schools. You need a source that says that Pashto is the majority language in Tank. Moreover, the HEC document you quoted says, "The people speak Pashto. Tank city dwellers also speak Siraiky. This is yet another wikipedia page which is anti pashtun. See majority of people in tank speak pashto (Jattar are the only seraiki speakers in Tank). According to Census 2017, about 3.72 percent of the population of KP is Saraiki Speaking. Now considering that 30,523,371 the total number of Saraiki speakers in KP is 1,135,469 (3.72 % of 30,523,371). If those are considered to be entirely living in D.I. Khan district than arond 70% of the population of D.I Khan District is Saraiki, while the remaining is Pashto speaking. However, that is not the case as there are few Saraiki speakers in Tank District as well. Furthermore, many pashto speakers moved to Tank and DI Khan districts due to war on terror etc.

Therefore, the most realistic assumption is around 60% of DI Khan is Saraiki speaking, while only 10% of Tank District is Saraiki.182.180.61.170 (talk) 10:12, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
