Notability[edit]

I don't think the Notability template is really appropriate. First of all, WP:GNG isn't the right standard if you want to challenge notability for people. Is there a Notability (people) template? Second, since the issue of notability has been brought up, I think Levy is notable based on the any biography criteria that states someone is notable if "the person has received a well-known and significant award or honor, or has been nominated for one several times." Levy won the São Paulo Prize for Literature for Debut Authors (one of the largest literary prizes in the world, which came with a R$200,000 cash prize the year she won), was shortlisted for the main prize a few years later, was honored by Granta, and apparently was nominated for other prizes such as the Jabuti Prize. This was all already in her article when the notability tag was added, except for the Granta bit, which I just added. Her article also has a variety of independent sources providing verifiability, including the Folha de S. Paulo, one of the most influential newspapers in Brazil (think Brazilian NY Times). Clearly the article needs a lot of work, but I don't think a notability challenge, even using the right standard, is appropriate for this person. Do we have to wait for an Admin to remove the tag, or can a regular editor do it? Vojen (talk) 18:58, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
