Article name[edit]

The team has both been referred to itself and by others as Charlie Schwerkolt Racing, CS Racing, Preston Hire Racing and Team 18. Preston Hire Racing will only be its name for the life of the sponsorship agreement, while Team 18 would change if it won the championship (granted, unlikely at this point) or if the team were to gain a naming rights sponsorship requiring a change of number, e.g. 360 at Nissan when Norton came in.

WP:NAMINGCRITERIA states the name should be the most recognisable and Charlie Schwerkolt Racing best fits this. Looking at other similar articles, they tend to be named using generic names that are more likely to carry regardless of changing commercial arrangements, Triple Eight Engineering, not Red Bull Racing, Garry Rogers Motorsport, not Wilson Security Racing etc. Cwr09 (talk) 02:12, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"WP:NAMINGCRITERIA states the name should be the most recognisable and Charlie Schwerkolt Racing best fits this."
Except that "Team 18" is the name that the team uses most frequently and most consistently. It's not the same as calling Triple Eight "Red Bull Racing Australia"; it's the same as calling Triple Eight "Triple Eight". Prisonermonkeys (talk) 07:10, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Can this be reviewed again? Many sources use Team 18 now and it's hard to find many that use Charlie Schwerkolt Racing. In Supercars' recent pit lane order for 2019 (Source) the team is referred as Team 18. I feel as though the article name could be changed now. Auzcast351 (talk) 19:17, 15 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Just because you don't get an answer does not mean you automatically get to change it. Reported to WP:Motorsport. 2001:8003:3C97:8200:3473:18D:6A40:DB90 (talk) 03:52, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. @Auzcast351: you did not receive consensus for such a broad change. Revert the edit and wait for consensus to be reached. If you are the IP who continually reverts the edit on 2019 Supercars Championship, you have violated 3RR and this act does have consequences. Holdenman05 (talk) 21:58, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I only changed 2019 Supercars Championship once and once only. I'm not sure who keeps reverting it but it is definitely not me. I apologise for making assumptions and I promise to not make any changes without any consensus again. Auzcast351 (talk) 12:21, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Further elaborating on the matter, I contacted the team about it through email and they have said that it should be known as Team 18, also linking me with their logo (Proof). I will wait for further consensus with everyone else before any changes are made. Auzcast351 (talk) 10:03, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Charlie Schwerkolt RacingTeam 18 – THere have been a number of previous discussions on renaming this article, both on its talk page and at other venues Talk:2019 Supercars Championship#Charlie Schwerkolt Racing and Talk:Supercars Championship#CS Racing vs Team 18. None have ever come up with a definitive conclusion. There was probably some doubt as to whether it would be called Team 18 long term, but 7 years on and seeing that it is still trading as Team 18 after expanding to two cars, think it is now appropriate to rename. Fecotank (talk) 05:25, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this even a question? What's taken so long? It was never even referred to as Charlie Schwerkolt racing in the first place, it's a false name made up on the basis of nothing. It's a bit like trying to decide whether or not the sky is blue. "Hmm, we're going to have a discussion over if its okay to now refer to the sky as being of the colour blue, instead of red. thoughts everyone?". The time it takes to get things done on supercars related articles is just embarassing. Everything looks outdated. - Cement4802 (talk) 07:37, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support per nominator. Dvzk (talk) 10:14, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Whether or not "Charlie Schwerkolt Racing", Team 18 is the name used as the common name by reliable sources now. A7V2 (talk) 13:16, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support - with the move to two cars this year I think there's no longer any reason to keep this name. SchueyFan (talk) 11:01, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
