what on earth is this???

It looks like someone tried to translate original Japanese source material using a software translator with minor meatware interference. I'm going to go ahead and tag this for clean up since I don't know enough about YMO to attempt the effort myself. Sangrito 18:38, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thankfully someone recently re-wrote the article...I took a stab at correcting the grammatical errors on the previously "translated" text but it still didn't make sense...thanks to the user or non-user who re-wrote the article, it makes a lot of sense now. Image:Yellow Magic Orchestra - Technodon.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Pared down sound[edit]

I understand the article tries to imply that YMO were looking for a sample-based sound but they couldn't for legal reasons. However, I find the mention of a pared down sound and "simple technopop arrangements" superfluous. Compared to previous YMO albums it doesn't sound more sparse, especially their most sample-based ones (Technodelic and BGM). If anything I'd say that in comparison to their previous work, the album is more techno than pop, and more influenced by contemporaneous developments in equipment and electronic music itself, but not especially sparse. I suggest the mentions of a pared down sound and simple technopop arrangements to be moved to the article on YMO themselves, as it's part of their sound as a whole. Since it all is a bit of a subjective matter, though, I'd think it'd be interesting to look for contemporary interviews to see what YMO had to say about the album, or at least I'd try to be a bit more objective when placing the sound of the album within their work (i.e. saying they used drum machines, referencing to techno influences, vocal style, repetition, etc.) 81.38.187.89 (talk) 14:26, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
