Released as single?

Was "Teenagers" confirmed as a single? --213.140.22.64 15:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

No it has not. There are a lot of places that highly suggest it and it is very likely based on information at the MCRmy boards however no reliable source has been provided and information should not be added unless a source is provided. A source for the video shoot is not provided, the fact that this is a single is not provided and no release date is provided. Also B-side information and a single cover was added without sources. Wikipedia does not allow original research and if unsourced information is added it should be removed.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 01:19, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Yup, thats original research so we're probably gonna have to remove it mcr616 Speak! 18:52, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Radio one in the Uk recently played Teenagers, with the word "Shit" reveresed, it wasn't blanked, it was reveresed.

well if its been played on the radio, which it has been then it will be a single, random tracks from albums don't get played on the radio....

I heard 'Cancer' the other day. And Cancer isn't a single.--MCRluvr 06:28, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

I've heard Mama Played on the Radio on Radio 1, but this was before the BP release. The thing is that They had it during the Mcr Comp, AND Zane Lowe hinted to hell it was going to be the next single.

If it wasn't going to be, they wouldn't have edited out the swear words. ~Danny
And why would they play it as the first song on their website if they aren't releasing it?
There's been rumours it's been delayed because of the VT shootings but to be honest I thought MCR were the sort to go ahead and release it anyway in a sort of f**k you to the media, this song was made to be a warning/further understanding about things like this. 195.195.20.199 09:11, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Are there any websites showing teenagers as a single? (besides youtube and mcr's official website) Eg. Amazon? I've tried finding teenagers on a website that would have the singles current position on the rock top 40 etc. but as of yet I'm lost. If someone could give me a reference I would surely be happy :].

P.S will this song be released in Australia?Blkeddie! 09:32, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Proposed Deletion

I have marked this article as proposed for deletion. It is almost entirely original research. While most of us are relatively secure in the idea that Teenagers will be the next single, there are no sources that actually STATE that Teenagers will be the next single. We need an announcement from MCR or their representatives or we can't claim that we know what the next single is going to be- even if ten fansites give us release dates. Someone's undoubtedly going to point to that picture of Gerard with those cheerleaders as a better source. Please keep in mind that My Chemical Romance has not stated that it's a picture from the video shoot for Teenagers. While common sense might indicate, for a fan, that that's what we're looking at, there's no actual proof for a casual reader. We must wait for an official announcement or an actual release of the single.

I see a lot of reasoning on this page. We aren't allowed to do our own research. Ideas like, "if it wasn't going to be a single, they wouldn't have edited out the swear words," and, "if it's been played on the radio, then it will be a single," aren't good enough. We need a truly verifiable source, per Wikipedia policy, or I'm sorry to say we just can't include it in Wikipedia. When the single's released, this problem will go away. --Moralis (talk) 19:33, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Confirmed Single [confirmed by band]

Yesterday on their website, it was officially added to the "singles list" along with Famous Last Words and Welcome To The Black Parade. Not sure when the video is coming out. But now people can stop arguing about whether or not it is the next single.--MCRluvr 21:42, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

It is the third single in the U.S.

It is not speculation that it is only the third single in the U.S. I Don't Love You was not released in the U.S., hence why on the band's site they even call it "an international single", and it was never added to the playlist like Teenagers has now been. And various places like FMQB have confirmed Teenagers release in the U.S., so that makes it the third single here. Now whether or not the song will be released in the UK or not as the fourth single is just speculation, but it is fact that it is the third single in the U.S.--WIKI-GUY-16 8:39, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

I removed the part about the U.S. because it seemed uneeded. However, I can see I was wrong. I will contrinue to revert if it says that it is unknown that if it will be released in the UK because as you said it is speculation. But I will keep the U.S. information in there. I apologize if my edit summary cause any inconveinence.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 23:02, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
That's alright. It was my fault for adding the UK stuff, that is just speculation, and I should have known better there. I just thought it was necessary to clarify it is the fourth single overall form the album, but only the third in the U.S. WIKI-GUY-16 11:09, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

By the way, it's not the last single. Gerhard said in a radio interview (also on youtube) that there will be 2 more singles, and he will direct one of the video's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.23.250.104 (talk) 13:17, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

General Stuff

1. Do we really have any proof that the song was delayed because of the VT shootings? This is what I am assuming as well..but without proof, we can't include that. 2. Teenagers is now playing on Sirius Satallite radio. Since it's satallite radio, it simply plays in it's uncensored form. TeamOverload 12:59, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

To answer you question, yes you would need a reliable source because on an interview with Gerard recently at for the 97X Tampa Bay Radio Station that it is more important to release the song now because of the Virginia Tech shootings and not that they are going to delay it because of it.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 00:07, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Leaked Photos

A link to the leaked photos should not be added. These photos were not released by the band or label and therefore a copyright violation. Any further adds should be removed.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 22:24, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Profanity

I have changed the article so that instead of the word "shxt" it now says "shit". According to wikipedia guidelines, profanity should either be in there in it's entirety or not at all. Please don't bowderlerise words. The chicken lady 20:00, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Anyone have information on the video release? And to the person above who did not sign their name, the single release is different from the video.--Calario freebie 01:31, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

There is no information at this time for the release of the video. If a reliable source is found then the date should be added to the article.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 01:33, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

I have heard rumors of it being May 21, but I can't find a good source. I think I might just add that it's been rumored.--70.23.170.18 23:56, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

This single seems to be delayed for weeks, I'm thinking that the video may not be released at all, and will be a radio only single Blkeddie! 11:14, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

It will be out this next week for sure, guys. It's either the 29th or the 31st on the MTV's. I belive MTV2 will be playing it on Tuesday, the 29th, and TRL will premiere it Thursday the 31st. I bet it will go up on YouTube from the band themselves sooner, my guess would be tomorrow since it is a holiday. MJB12 14:56, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

The video section states that the video premiered in NZ on the 29th, form that link, i still can't find information on the videoclipBlkeddie! 06:48, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

video appears on the NME website [1] in which July 9th is stated as the single's release date. the current date of May 29th reflects the premiere of the video, not the release of the actual single, and should be changed to reflect this. as july 9th is a monday the US release would presumably be the following day, July 10th 89.243.1.110 16:13, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

General Quality

The article is untidy, particularly the section on music video, which makes it very difficult to read. Also information is being misrepresented, or simply being put down carelessly. As an example, there simply shouldn't be a reference to "Gerald" in here. Mistakes like this build up and being an article's quality, not to mention that of wikipedia, down. 89.243.1.110 16:20, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Two music videos?

Anyone else noticed that Teenagers has two vids? Only a few subtle differences between MCR's release and the one I ripped. Is this enough to make the main article? The censorship is irrelevant but things like Gerard falling to the floor in different ways, etc.

 ViperBlade Talk!! 06:23, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

I noticed that too, in the one played on MTV, it didnt show the kids breaking into the auditorium, and when Ray goes into the guitar solo, it doesnt show him falling, while the one they posted on YouTube showed the kids breaking in and then showed Gerard falling. I don't however think it is significant enough to be included in the article.--MCRluvr

It also doesn't have the "don't act out" thing at the end, which is perhaps notable.

 ViperBlade Talk!! 20:37, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
That is true.--MCRluvr 21:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

B-sides?

I heard from somewhere that the b-side on the single is gonna be black or white by michael jackson-is that true?

It was rumored, but Frank recently said the B-sides were gonna be something like "Under My Heart" and "Bind My Hands". mcr616 Speak! 16:06, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

And both of those are rumors too. I personally think that was made up, because the news report had track times too. But that was several months ago. The single will be released in the UK on JULY 9TH so if there are more B-sides, they will come out then. MJB12 05:51, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Single Date - July 9th

Why was the information about the July 9th release date removed? When the Teenagers video was originally released, it said the single release date for the UK was on July 9th, 2007 (it appeared at the end of the video as a message from Warner UK). That would be considered an official source, considering it followed the video. MJB12 05:52, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Edited the release to July 9th. Please remember this is a page for the single, and so its release date is the one that should be put in the information box, not that of the video. If pedantry is what this is going to dissolve into, i shall also say this: the video's premiere and release date are not the same thing. Please check sources befre you blithely edit dates. Softwing 08:59, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Also as another source, it also says July 9th as a release date on Billboard.com. If you scroll down Teenagers is listed and the release date is July 9th.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 17:35, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Charts

Is the song not on the Modern Rock charts anymore or something? It hasn't been changed in awhile. Icelandic Hurricane 20:52, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Not sure. I haven't hear it played on any alt rock stations yet, so it might have dropped off the charts, but I don't think thats the case. mcr616 Speak! 22:03, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

disposable teens reference?

The gasmasks and nightsticks in the video remind me of the disposable teens video by marilyn manson, a reference maybe? also that isn't a 'hammercross' I don't think, it's a 'T' for teenagers like the cheerleaders have on their uniforms.

That's possible, however it also simply could not be the case. There appears to be animosity between the two bands, so I would be skeptical of a reference in the video. If i recall the two songs, although thematically similar, have startlingly different undertones. At any rate, it is conjecture, and would most likely qualify as original research in this case. Track listing

Is this genuine? a quick search has turned nothing up, and while I am not saying it is untrue, can we have sources please? Softwing 13:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I deleted it. Unless there is a source for the track listing, no one should re-add it. mcr616 Speak! 15:28, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

source: www.cdon.com

Just to let everyone know, the exact URL is [2], if you'd like to check it out. mcr616 Speak! 17:54, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

The site also states a 4/7 release date, which seems dubious. perhaps for the sake of quality and reliability it's best to play the waiting game for a short while. It'll turn up on other vendors soon enough. Softwing 18:50, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

just found the single on another vendor. same track listing with cover art here [3]Softwing 11:29, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Tone

I tagged this section as the tone is not up to scatch. Things like this boggle my mind: "This seems to attract the teenagers attention which may be in reference to modern day teenagers' fascination or liking with nuclear war." I simply don't think that is a valid statement to make. other points to note are phrases such as "Judging by..." this is not the correct formal tone for the entry, it is an exploration into the video and its subtexts. all in all it needs a bit of cleanup, a lot could probably be removed. Softwing 09:35, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Uncensored video

I don'y think there should be a link to the "uncensored" video on YouTube. That is jsut the normal version with the album track played over it. Mm jimmy 07:35, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

yes, that's true, someone else will have to take care of it cos im busy atm ^^ Blkeddie! 14:15, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

No, The normal version of the single is the Uncensored version of the censored version of the single of the real song on the Black Parade. In short, either way is good TaylorLTD 21:39, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

New Zealand premier

This article twice says that the video premiered in New Zealand, but the date it premiered isn't even mentioned! It also isn't sourced. – Zntrip 16:57, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

It premiered in New Zealand. I believe it was a day or two before the US premier. mcr616 Speak! 18:39, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Reception

The quote from Rolling Stone's "Brent Klohk" is pure fabrication. I can't find anything about Mr. Klohk writing for Rolling Stone, or even existing besides a few high school students. The quote sounds like rubbish, and MetaCritic doesn't even give songs scores, so that part's bunk too. They don't even give anything scores, they compile other people's. Citation's been needed for awhile, and none has been supplied. I don't "wiki" often. Is it cool if I just nuke it on account of some honest-to-God research and common sense proving it totally phony? DackAttac (talk) 05:48, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Columbine

The article Columbine High school massacre in the media makes the claim that this song is partially based on the shooting I doubt this claim but if anyone can find sources on this I beleive it should be added. Ijustwantaaccount (talk) 02:45, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Just to clarify the article is actually Columbine High School massacre in modern culture and it claims the song is partially based on school shootings not Columbine. Ijustwantaaccount (talk) 02:55, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Deja Vu

This song is a cover.

I don't care how many times Mr. Way claims to have written this song, this song is a remake, One I have heard many times before I even knew who MCR was.
