History Section[edit]

Would someone be so kind as to edit/put in links for the History section? I'm not really sure what to do with it...Inlumino 04:47, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added links to the History section. If anyone deems more links necessary, please add them --Mysteryperson956 10:06, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice try, but unfortunately(at this time), the Historical Society of Temple City has yet to establish a website...give them time, though...it will come...Baldwin91006 (talk) 02:39, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We have a historical society? Anyway, I think Inlumino meant intra-wiki links. -- Poe Joe (talk) 04:12, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Demographics[edit]

A recurring change I have noticed is the changing of White to Asian in regards to racial predominance. In the most recent census data from 2000, the number of Asians has surpassed the number of Whites in Temple City. Census Data I am requesting that someone rewrite that part of the article, because simply changing White to Asian is not accurate when considering the definition of predominance and the other statements in the paragraph. --Mysteryperson956 07:57, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you could find a more clear and more reliable resource than that, I'd be the first in line to do it, but until then, I don't find that we can really change something so important as a city's racial dominence without it. -- Poe Joe (talk) 06:46, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure? The Census website provides the following 2000 census data for Temple City:

White:48.7%
Asian:38.9%
First of all, sign your posts with four tildas "~~~~", and secondly, the 2000 Census data for 2000 is already in the article. I'm not arguing about that. What I am agruing about, is that Mysteryperson956 wants to change it to a 2007 survey. For the 2007 survey, we don't know who conducted it, we don't know how accurate it is, but we do know that it is an unreliable source. Because of those three reasons, I dont think we should change the demographics section until a more reliable source (perhaps the 2010 Census) comes rolling along. -- Poe Joe (talk [[User: 19:24, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A simple change in the wording of is more indicative of the current population until the 2010 census. The change from "white people" to Caucasian was sorely needed! Will edit as time permits. JoyDiamond (talk) 06:33, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Seal temple city ca.png[edit]

Image:Seal temple city ca.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Citations are a must[edit]

Articles must be accompanied by citations when making major edits! DocOfSoc (talk) 03:13, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have incorporated many of your excellent ideas in the current edition. Make sure when you are rearranging sentences that you do not change the entire meaning of what is written. TY. DocOfSoc (talk) 04:26, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

town |toun|

noun an urban area that has a name, defined boundaries, and local government, and that is larger than a village and generally smaller than a city. AT between 3 and 4 square miles, it qualifies a a town. My hpmetown <grin> Semantics anyone? Namaste;-) DocOfSoc (talk) 11:32, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Legally is a "city" per Official city website. It's also describe as a "city" per city charter. Also look here I will have to change it with citations. Sorry, but calling a legal city a "town" is not correct. --Moreau36--Discuss 15:28, 1 August 2010 (UTC) Good job Moreau! Semantics are fun and you have clarified beautifully for future doubters. BTW I live in T.C. TY! We have other windmills to joust ;-) Namaste...DocOfSoc (talk) 21:18, 1 August 2010 (UTC) Or would that be "tilt" / :-D DocOfSoc (talk) 21:19, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cathe Wilson's age[edit]

  • Source article in the Whittier Daily News, dated May 4, 2011 said: "And now Wilson, 78, the rude ringleader who for years acted as if she owned the town and that it consequently owed her for what should be an essentially volunteer post, is the final thief of the public trust to fall." So she is 78 in 2011. Previously it was mentioned she was 76 in 2009. Ucla90024 (talk) 21:08, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Satoshi Nakamoto[edit]

Here is the original article claiming to have uncovered the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto: http://mag.newsweek.com/2014/03/14/bitcoin-satoshi-nakamoto.html

Here is the pseudonymous Satoshi (or someone posing as him) making his first public post since 2010. The poster refutes the article, saying "I am not Dorian Nakamoto": http://p2pfoundation.ning.com/forum/topics/bitcoin-open-source?commentId=2003008%3AComment%3A52186

Conversely, Dorian Nakamoto publically denies that he is Satoshi.

The Temple City page should not be modified to include Satoshi Nakamoto until the matter is settled. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.22.20.147 (talk) 04:33, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it should. It may be mentioned that it's a speculation; however, it's relevant, it's interesting, and it belongs to Wikipedia. Sources are there, people can draw their own conclusions. This thing definitely put Temple City on a map internet-wide. --Sigmundur (talk) 21:42, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I restated the claim in a way that only states known facts and remains true even if Newsweek retracts their claim. Hopefully that's an acceptable compromise. 216.16.232.86 (talk) 01:19, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
